Reviews for Smith & Co. in Detroit, MI
We went for the happy hour special, $5 smash burger and $5 draft pints. Their restaurant is very nice, and the regular menu... looks amazing. If the rest of the food is cooked as well as our burgers, customers are in for a great meal. Bar service was abit slow and unorganized, the lone bartender could have used some help. Read more
This place was a gem. The atmosphere was great. It was a small menu but just right for conversation and chatting. It was a... spacious restaurant with delightful staff. I had the friend green tomato salad (I was so excited about it that I forgot to takea picture) that was delicious. It was a unique salad that had seed, large croutons with hints of mint with the friend greentomato’s on the side. I also had the shrimp and grits. I don’t love grits but I thought I would give it a shot. I wasimpressed and I’m glad I did. The texture and flavor!!!! I enjoyed my dinner and would recommend. Read more
Unfortunately we had a pretty terrible experience on a rather quiet Saturday night, maybe 1/3 of the restaurant was full. Our... server was incredibly inattentive and would disappear for 20 mins or more repeatedly. Our food was all over the place. Thecarrot appetizer was great, but the pretzel app was incredibly boring for $13. The shrimp and grits looked great but were verydisappointing once I started to eat it. The grits were cold and lumpy they also had significant amounts of undercooked grits init. Our drinks came at completely different times and my wife's coke didn't make it to the table until we were done eating. Theserver messed up the bill 2x and split it when we didn't ask her to. We had to get a manager to help sort everything else out. The whole experience was such a disappointment and everything took such an agonizingly long time, over 2.5 hours from sittingdown to being able to leave. We might try again in a few months and if its better I will update my review. I'm hoping we justhad a really off day for the restaurant. Read more

Delicious food, friendly staff and very comfortable atmosphere. I enjoyed the Mac & Cheese, Carrots, Greens and Shrimp.
What a great experience! I’ll start with the parking on this street is a first come first serve! Took me about 20 mins but it... was a Saturday night. We made a reservation and were seated promptly. First I’ll start with out drinks. I ordered the partlystormy which was surprisingly sweet after reading the description. My friend got the Penicilina and loved it. As an appetizer weordered the southern shrimp. Didn’t look as it was expected but was still pretty good. I got the Achiote Marinated Steak withbraised collard greens and mashed potatoes. And my friend got the Detroit Fried Chicken with braised collard greens and smokedcheddar grits. The braised collard greens were DELICIOUS. We were both so shocked. The steak was good and my friend reallyenjoyed the fried chicken. Overall this was a great experience especially with this being the second weekend since reopening. Iwould definitely come back again! The food at Smith & Co is a fantastic, creative mix. Add in beer from Nain Rouge brewery (across the courtyard) and you have a... grand slam. Happy hour is especially awesome with $5 smash burgers. Read more
