This is my first time visiting. It won't be the last time. The food was seasoned just right. Though the fish batter tends to be... on the overly salty side, but still delicious. The place is clean and the receptionist is very professional. Read more

Called ahead for two lunch specials on a Thursday around 11 for a 20 minute wait time, very generous portions and affordable!... You get a large square styrofoam takeout with rice, cabbage, a couple of plantains and meat of your choice. Would highlyrecommend the yams as well! Current prices on the website menu are outdated just a heads up (Ex. chicken lunches 8.99 not 7.99) Read more

I ordered the red snapper. The flavor was great. A little spicy with herb and spices that went very well with the the fish. Fair... price. The only downfall was the beans and rice which was a little overcooked, dry without much flavor. My wife had the oxtails. She gave it 7.5/10. Overall, a good place to eat Carribean/Jamaican food. 20min wait when ordering at restaurant and notcalling in an order ahead of time. Read more

Detroit has many great Caribbean restaurants and Island Spice is near the top. They have an extensive menu - possibly the most... extensive of any Caribbean restaurant in the area. There?s also a soul food menu. I love their Boston style jerk chicken. Rice &peas, veggies, & plantains are excellent too. Jamaican beef patties are some of the best around too. Read more

Stopped here for the first time 6.27.2022, I got the lunch specials for the oxtails, curry goat, curry chicken and jerk wings.... The food was very good and a lot for the money. The festival dumplings were spot on. I will definitely be back. Read more

On 10/19/2021 at around 7:30ish to 8pm I ordered an oxtail dinner, a side of plantain, and cornbread. The cornbread was cold and... crumbly. The oxtails were tasty but full of fat... Like they didn't even try to give me any bones with meat on it. It lookedlike they intentionally gave me bones and fat. I was given a container of oily soggy plantain. It was so much oil in thecontainer that I could see it and it was also leaking through the container. I wish I would have looked at my food before Ileft the restaurant. By the time I got home it was after 8pm and dark outside so I couldn't bring the food back. Mind you... Idon't stay close. In fact I stay in a neighboring city and had to take the freeway to get there. I tried calling back but noone answered the phone. My bill was over $20.00 and most of the food wasn't edible. I regret wasting my time and money at thisplace and will not be back. To anyone reading this, there are several Jamaican restaurants throughout Michigan and morespecifically in the metro Detroit area. I strongly suggest you try those instead of wasting your time here Because the foodthey gave me was just playing disrespectful. It's like they just threw anything together as if they were feeding straps to thedog. Read more
