My wife and I walk in this eve on a Thursday night at 7. Person in charge tells me the kitchen is closed. My wife and I came in... specifically to get a bite. As we left we run into a friend directly outside that were heading in. She and her friend went in tograb a drink. A little bit later, I see that friend again a couple doors down. They tell me that the kitchen at Purveyor madethem some food after we left. Sorry Purveyor, you'll get zero recommendations from me. That was completely unprofessional andlame. Read more

My first meal in Des Moines, so perhaps I've been spoiled. This hot sandwich is amazing (the Baron). Not only is the pork... delicious but the bread is outstanding. Coupled with a good Sangiovese from the wine bar, this was a simple lunch to remember! And tonight apparently is paella night! Read more

Nestled nicely in between Raygun and Dirt Burger is this fantastic place to get wine, charcuterie, and unique desserts. It has a... distinct European feel, but is in a modern building with giant windows and plenty of natural light - it has a neat vibe that isapparent as soon as you walk in. There are a variety of unique wines on tap, with the option to order a wine flight so you cantry three types in case you're like me, always feeling indecisive but also wanting to try as many different things aspossible. There is a deli counter in the back of the space where you can order sandwiches and charcuterie, made-to-order, orthere are also a number of grab-and-go type of sandwiches, meats, cheeses, and salads. There are also a wide variety of dessertsavailable that are packaged - French macarons, biscotti, cannolis, coconut macaroons, and a variety of cookies. Although thereare a couple of tables on the main floor to sit and enjoy your wine/food, be sure to check out the upper level, which is alsoopen to the public. There are more seating options on the upper level, as well as a neat catwalk area to check out the wholespace from above. The staff are some of the nicest people you will ever meet and are incredibly helpful if you have anyquestions or special requests. Definitely a hidden gem in East Village worth checking out. Wonderful ambiance, delicious food (super tasty veggie sandwich - one of the most flavorful veggie sandwiches I've ever had),... and delicious wine. Wish I lived in Des Moines so I could come here all the time! Read more
