If you are looking for glam surroundings and high end designer artwork on the walls.. you will be disappointed. On the other... hand, if you are looking for one of the best steaks anywhere.. this family owned restaurant is for you. The decor is outdatedbut clean. The staff is welcoming and efficient. Our waitress was attentive to the details and made sure we had everything weneeded. The salad bar alone would be worth a trip. It is stocked with regional favorites including things like pickled beets andhomemade salads that would make any church potluck attendees giddy. The bottom line is these people know steak. This place is amazing. They go above and beyond to make your experience delightful. I ordered 10 oz sirloin medium, with baked... potato and salad bar to go. Steak was cooked perfectly, juicy and tender. I love their baked potatoes, always is tender andflavorful. I request my salad bar items to be packaged in a specific way and they do it for me every time. Service is excellent and food is great quality and quanity. You want steaks, this is the place. They have only steaks. Steaks range from 20 oz is $30+, 10oz steak is $20+. Steaks come with... toast, potato, and a salad bar. They have a bar for wines and other drinks. We had 12 people for a late dinner Tuesday night.Just a few people there so we have our foods within 20 minutes. One waitress, she was quick. Oldschool little place. Could definitely use some updating, but the food was pretty solid. Salad bar had some great pasta salad... options. They definitely undercook their steaks compared to the average place, so if you want medium, order medium well. $32 fora 16oz new York strip meal with salad bar. So I'd say it's a pretty average price for a steak place. Got 4* because they needupdating inside I think. But some people like that feel. I would probably go back if I wanted steak, but their are othernon-steakhouse options in Des Moines that I feel are better for the money. Read more

Steak burned to a charred black inedible crisp. Ordered it to be cooked to medium. This is the worst food I have ever been... served at a restaurant. I will never go back. This is the first time I?ve ever been given food so bad that I felt compelled towrite a review about it. The manager of the restaurant was also the cook and even had the courage to charge me for the saladbar. I wish I could give zero stars. Read more

Service was great and the food was fantastic! The ribeye was cooked perfectly, the pork chop is huge and juicy. It?s nice to be... able to go through a salad bar. You have to wear a plastic glove to do the salad bar, but it?s not a big deal and worth it. Read more
