I would like to thank the entire staff at La Cucina for the incredible service and absolutely delicious food our family shared... last night for a very special occasion of one of our family members for his 65th Birthday! True New Jersey (authentic) Italian BYOB. COVID thankfully hasn?t taken a hit on the quality of the food here, like many... restaurants. Come ready and come hungry. This isn?t fancy Italian, but the best kind isn?t. Like your Italian grandmother,she?s going to stuff you with amazing food, and then still refill your plate?again and again. But it?s worth every bite. Thebruschetta is large and fantastically flavorful (four large pieces on fresh bread). The fried calamari is with big ?O?s andwithout tentacles; the two sauces - sweet snd spicy - are a nice touch. The chicken parmigiana and eggplant rollatini comeessentially in the same format - massive and with a LOT of cheese (expect leftovers). The clams linguine is accompanied with 20+baby clams and great flavor; just be careful, the sauce will splatter if you?re not careful. The unexpected winner was therigatoni Christina (swapped out the rigatoni for capellini which soaked the sauce right up *chefs kiss*) - the mushrooms add anumami complexity to the prosciutto and plum sauce with an added touch of peas. I'll be honest: wasn't impressed. Maybe it was my dish, but it was the blandest thing I ever had the misfortune of having to... eat. And I was starving, and even *that* spice wasn't enough to make my dish taste good. Alas, it was the dish I had which tbh Ican't recall the name of it. But avoid it if you can. It was also just SWIMMING in oil. You might confuse it for soup. There'snever a good reason for that much oil. It was disgusting. I did try my brother's chicken Parm and it was delicious. But thatwasn't my experience personally. I wasn't impressed with the atmosphere really. It was too bright. I don't want to brush it offentirely...but I can't give it a good rating based on the menu item I personally had. Sorry! Read more
