Reviews for OTOTO in Denver, CO
Overall, this is a pretty unique place to try out, though we might not have visited on their best night. We got some ramen and... a variety of appetizers, all of which were amazing. The pork ramen might have had one ounce of pork in the giant bowl though, which was disappointing because it was freaking good! My only other critique was more on the experience side. We arrived at 5pon a Saturday evening and didn't have to wait to be seated but it still took over half an hour to get our first appetizer. Oneof the app orders got lost so we didn't get it until we were done with our meal and ready for the check. Our waitress wasawesome, apologetic and said the manager was working to get our order fixed. I never expect or ask for freebies, but on therare occasion something like this happens some portion of the bill typically ends up being "on the house." Not this time. Read more
Overall we enjoyed this restaurant. There were some superstars like the raw oysters (very rich and ‘fatty’ mouth feel),... Maitake mushrooms (lots of Unami), Brussels Sprouts (the acid from the lemon and grapefruit really enhanced), Black Cod (the fatfrom the skin was excellent), and the chocolate cake. The Salmon Kama (collar) was a great piece of protein and worth having, but be forewarned that it is rich, and reminiscent of pork belly (that’s a good thing, not a bad). Service was excellent...once we were seated. And therein lies the rub. We had a confirmed reservation. But they didn’t seat us until 20 minutes afterbecause the previous party wasn’t giving up the table. In fact, they were just lounging around shooting the bull. The staffhas to have the fortitude to ask that party to move to the bar or to give up the table. Read more
I've passed this so many times and finally tried it. The food was awesome, me and my friend had the chicken heart special, cold... tofu, and brussel sprouts for some apps. The flavors were great - the brussel sprouts are definitely a 2-3 person job. I had thetonkatsu ramen and it was great and a perfect portion. Wrapped up the meal with the yuzu and black pepper sorbet which wasUNBELIEVABLE! I will definitely come back to try more things off the menu, a great place if you wanna get a little fancy. I madereservations and that was super helpful because it's packed even on Wednesday nights. Read more
Delicious Japanese small plates with an interesting take in comparison to the other family of restaurants. The tofu is out of... this world along with the crispy spicy tuna roll! My only criticism would be that the tables were extremely tightly packedtogether but understandable considering the small amount of space! Read more
Honestly, coming here was not planned at all. I ended up at Ototo because all other restaurants in the area were fully booked -... BUT: it was amazing and I am very happy to have discovered this place. Delicious, fresh sushi, very nice service and greatappetizers. Loved it and hopefully will be back soon! Read more
We must have stopped here on an off night... We arrived for dinner at 8:25 and as soon as we walked in we got the dirtiest look... from one of the servers; after sitting at our table for 10 minuets that same server came to our table with the worst attitudeand the service was terrible all the way through dinner. The portions are meant to share but they are extremely small. Flavorof the food was wasn’t much better than some of the lower end Japanese restaurants I’ve been to. Wasn’t worth the $$$. Read more
Great place for tapas. Everything our group ordered tasted delicious. I especially liked the yakiniku bowl. most plates are for... sharing but the ramen and rice bowls could be ordered as a meal in its own. we ordered around 9 plates for our group of 4 whichcame out to around $22 per person which was a lot more affordable and filling than we thought it would be! We tried calling tomake a reservation before the restaurant opened and we were told that they don't accept reservations on Fridays and Saturdays soplan accordingly. Read more
Great atmosphere, excellent service, food came out fresh, surprisingly fast and tasted delicious. I took my son here for for... mama son date during happy hour so we tried a few new items. Moderately priced but can get pricey if you order a lot ofdifferent things like we did but for a nice date or celebration, this place is where its at! We tried the honey glazed eggplant. Not sexy looking like some of their other dishes but wow is it delicious! The miso soup has a little extra than otherrestaurants, those mushrooms really add something. Watch the hours, during the week they open at 430 so try their sisterrestaurants on the same block for business meetings. Read more
