Japanese Barbecue, I had not really thought of that food genre until I very innocently decided to have a meal at Gyu-Kaku... Japanese BBQ in Denver. Why not, you ask? Well, I don't really think of Japanese barbecue considering there',s so muchAmerican barbecue around. But my first impression with this wonderful genre was quite good. We arrived about 10 minutes early tomake sure that we met our reservation time. After 5ish minutes of wait in the foyer we got our table. I noticed immediatelythat there was a little grill built into the table. Ooooo, so we cook to our own liking, nice!!!! The seating host seemed alittle stern, not angry mind you, but like he was stressed and then I realized, "hey, it's Thanksgiving, this guy probablydoesn't want to work and it's probably a hectic day already". Fair enough I wanted to give this place every benefit of thedoubt I could, go easy on the guy when he has to work on a holiday. After perusing the menu a little I found that it was quitethe meatatarian delight, if you're vegan/vegetarian you have some option but lets be clear, their main food here is MEAT!!! And lot's of it. At least 10 different cuts of beef, chicken, pork and some really lovely appetizers including octopus takoyakiwhich my daughter absolutely loves (definitely not my thing). There were all kinds of choices as to the amounts of food youcould choose, mixtures of several different types of beef starting at $32.00 per person and going all the way up to over onehundred dollars per person. Of course they had the most amazing Japanese beef on the menu, the wagu beef, we chose a slightlyless modest beef and it was delicious. There was a whole page of appetizers of all types from potstickers to sushi and it wasall quite lovely to look at with pictures and great descriptions of the food. If you're not up on Japanse cuisine this was aHUGE help in deciding what you might want to eat. Our server was very pleasant and helpful young lady especially Read more

Good food, friendly staff and manager. However, the wait is long, very long. They kept forgetting our orders, though we ordered... from the beginning. Until we ended the meal, they brought out what I have ordered earlier. Some dishes they completelyforgot. I don’t like leaving the restaurant feeling hungry, so we kept reminding and waiting for the their food. Because thegap between each serving time was long and not enough food, we got full with air and the hunger lingered. They’reunderstaffed, we understand and appreciate the manager and staff that went out of the way trying to serve us the best theycan. Hopefully, they can do better in the future. Read more

My wife and I went here off the wind and I have to to say from walk-in gin to checking out we love everything about this place... minus the salad but overall that will probably be fixed next time we come back. Most definitely we will come back and refer thisplace to family, friends and whoever is looking for a legitimate awesome Japanese BBQ joint. Looking forward to our next visitwhich will be within a week. Read more

The best thing about this restaurant was that they were “full”, despite 90% of tables being open, and only accepting... reservations. The hostess was so rude that I imagine we wouldn’t have had an enjoyable experience. Instead we found an amazingplace 5 min away with a great authentic Korean atmosphere- Soko Korean BBQ. Read more

Great first time trying Japanese BBQ!! We did the $45 all you can eat on Wednesday. Food was delicious! My only feedback is... service could of been better, waters were always empty even when the servers said they would be back with more water. The servermentioned they were under staffed so I totally understand which is why I am not leaving any stars off from this 5 star review.Staff is not something that can always be controlled in these times of covid era. Besides that I would absolutely come back! Read more

Oh god, where do i start… Trying to get on wait list before they open and couldn’t because apparently they’re all... “booked”. Horrible customer service through and on the dining experience. The food is absolutely disgusting. The noodle werepre-boiled and would take out of the freeze when order, i dont even know how they can come up with the broth so disgusting.Takoyaki were cold in the middle. I heard good things about them in another state but this location here in Denver is belowstandard. Read more
