Fun atmosphere and great staff. Slight improvements could be made salad dressing was amazing but the wet salad watered down the... taste. The Rocky Mountain oysters are the best I have ever had. The elk steak was very good but the buffalo…too muchtenderizer and a taste that I cannot put my finger on. I typically love buffalo. The quail was okay…not how grandma fixed it-and all the beef steak around us looked great. Awesome place to experience and wandering was encouraged… make a reservationand request downstairs for older folks … Read more

This a most historic restaurant in Denver! There a lot of animals specimens around, which were hunted by themselves. The types... of meat are various! We tasted two sets of combinations. The buffalo is the most delicious for me. The Rocky Mountain oyster isspecial and tasty that I highly recommend to order! The vibe is pretty great here. This is a fantastic restaurant for thetourists. The service is also very nice. Read more

Had a reservation, checked in, they said the tables were really backed up and slow so I chose to sit at the bar upstairs. ... Started off with a bottle of Odell 90 Shilling Ale. Then had a half order of Rocky Mountain Oysters. This was the first timetrying it, I would say it was like a firmer calamari. Tasted good but trying it once in my life is enough but the creamyhorseradish that came with it was amazing. Then I ordered the Bison and Elk plate. It came with both meats, mashed potatoes andgreen beans. The cuts of meat were maybe 6 oz or less of each. The Bison was tougher meat, cooked at medium rare and fairlypink, it is still very lean cut of meat. The Elk was not as lean. Both were solid. The mashed potatoes were really good and myfavorite. Overall solid food and a place that embodies Denver’s history. Read more

Incredible food, interesting atmosphere, fascinating history. Such a unique dining experience and an incredibly varied menu.... It's hard to choose between getting what you know you love and trying something new because everything is so great. You couldspend hours just walking through and looking at the walls. Try the rocky mountain oysters - you'll be surprised how good theyare! The service was top notch. Can't wait to come back again. Read more

In town in business from KY. This was the number one place I wanted to come to. Staff was excellent. Rocky Mountain Oysters... we're cooked perfectly. My only complaint was the horseradish cream sauce want spicy enough. I had the buffalo prime rib. It wasdelicious. My husband had elk and bison and said both were great. Thank you for a wonderful meal and memory. Read more

Visiting Denver and I wanted to try one of the oldest restaurants in town so we stopped by the Buckhorn Exchange. The ambience... really takes you back to the western era. A lot of historic memorabilia to look at while you wait for your food. My group hadordered the Rocky Mountain oysters, grilled duck breast, fried alligator tails, New York strip steak and the Colorado lambchops. My favorite was the grilled duck breast which was a soft and tender duck breast served with a sweet raspberry sauce. Verydelicious and the sweet sauce helped carry the flavor. The only dish I was unimpressed by was the lamb chops. The seasoningsthey used didn’t really pair well with me. I don’t know if maybe it wasn’t seasoned well but I know it was lacking inflavor. I really did like the place and service though. Read more

One of my favorite restaurants in all of Colorado! I loved my experience. This is one of the oldest buildings in Denver. One can... feel this lost era of old Colorado by eating in here. Everything is so clean, intentional, and purposeful. Also, the food wasabsolutely incredible. It was the first time we had bison steaks and Rocky Mountain oysters. The flavor and taste was onlyheightened by the aesthetic of the establishment. One owes it to themselves to check out this historical steakhouse, especiallythe second floor! Will come back again! Walked in and was greeted with friendly staff. We were early for our reservation so we sat at the bar and had some Breckinridge... Brews as seen in my photos. There is a nice environment and a bunch of taxidermy animals on the walls as well has some snippetsof history. Once we sat at our table we ordered appetizers, main course, and dessert. (Sorry no picture of the cheesecake). Seemy photos for a description of each food item. My personal favorite was the duck and quail. If you are looking for a nice placeto try a bunch of different meats then this is the place to go. Highly Recommend. Read more
