I was in Decatur visiting my son and he took us to the Crowbar because he said it has "The Best Bar Food in Decatur". He wasn't... wrong. The food was reasonably priced and was delicious. Best shoe I've had in Decatur. The burger was handmade and fresh. The staff was extremely courteous. If your looking for good food and drink you can't go wrong. A must go if your in Decatur. In this day and age where no one wants to go to work I feel bad leaving a negative review. We waited over an hour for our food... and at the time we ordered they were not that busy. I only saw two servers and one kitchen person. Maybe that was the issue? Thefood was good once we finally received it although we did not receive it at the same time. It took three different times for usto finally all have our food together. I would not take children here like we did after swim lessons for a quick bite to eat asthe clientele we're not very appropriate with some of their words. Several people who had ordered after we did received theirfood first and as we were getting our food all of the bar customers got their food and they came in after us so with only sevenof us we were very disappointed. It was our first time here but they were overwhelmed on this Tuesday unfortunately. Alsothought it was strange that three soft tacos in a basket could not be split up between different Meats. We visited for the first time on July 10 after reading many booming compliments on the "Support Decatur IL Small Businesses"... facebook page. The Crowbar facebook page had advertised live music and a dinner special of Ribs, so we thought it would be agood day to try it out. When we arrived, the business was booming! We were able to find a single table inside. Unfortunately,the table was where they wanted to set up the band. A man, who I assume is an owner, asked if he could move our table was verykind and gracious and asked multiple times if it was okay. After being settled, it took a long time for servers to get aroundto us. We ordered "Adult Iced Teas" and the woman who served us said. "Let me know if these aren't good.." while serving them. They weren't good, very syrupy. We didn't say anything out of grace for how busy they were. Looking around it seems likecanned alcohol products were the better choice on crowded evenings. When our server did come around she said they were alreadysold out of Ribs which really surprised me since I hadn't seen anyone inside eating them and it was only 7pm. At this point Iwas pretty bummed because it was crowded, my drink wasn't great, we were out of luck for the dinner we were looking forward toand the live music took longer than I expected. This all being said, when the music started, it was great! We were super closeand it wasn't overbearingly loud. The owners were taking care of their artists by turning down the AC and making sureeverything was ready for them. We like to see musicians taken care of. We ordered cheese curds and a mac n cheese wrap and acheese toasty brisket -- They were all delicious! We really enjoyed the Crow Seasoning on the fries. The food was extremelyaffordable and it seems like there were lots of yummy options. We decided we would come back, but maybe not at such a primetime or even a week day. Read more
The wife and I were looking for some good bbq today in decatur and decided to stop and try the Crowbar out. We were both very... impressed(and we are picky on our bbq)! Very cool setting and atmosphere. Waitress was great and the cook even came over andasked how the food was. Pulled pork was awesome and the cowboy beans were fantastic! We will be back for sure!
