I only gave it 2 stars because the people working there were nice. I'd really been craving soul food and all of the other places... were closed so I figured I'd check this one out. I ordered fried chicken, mac and cheese, and dressing w/ gravy. I also orderedbanana pudding. The dressing tasted weird. My guess is that it's missing sage and celery. Plus it had huge chunks of onions.Just a big NO. Worst dressing ever. The mac and cheese is dry and flavorless. The chicken was small, but decent. The bananapudding was made with artificial banana pudding (instead of vanilla pudding) and was way too sweet. I can't believe I droveacross town for this. Next time, I'll just stick to the soul food restaurants I normally go to. I'd rather drove even furtherout, at least I won't be wasting my money. I'm not a picky eater either. I'll eat nearly anything. Just not this. Read more

Ordered oxtails ($22) and they sold out of rice. Considering the missing item, I should be able to sub the rice for another side... or get a small discount right? NOPE! Also ordered a veggie plate ($8) The yams are MAJORLY undercooked and aren?t sweet orcandied AT ALL. I wish I could post the video trying to cut the yams! The mac n cheese is dry and very bland. The greens are a6/10. I wouldn?t recommend coming AN HOUR before they close. Service is 3/10. Entering and exiting this establishment was thehighlight of my visit due to security waiting the door for every customer. ???? I should?ve read the reviews before going. Read more

The food was hot and fresh. I ordered the rib tips, they were a bit tougher than my preference but the bbq sauce was good; the... green beans were amazing and went well with the corn bread muffin; and the yellow rice was cooked well but wasn't flavorful. Wealso had the smothered pork chop with rice, both needed more flavor/seasoning; candied sweet potatoes, that were good, not toosweet; and Mac n cheese, which was also pretty good. For desserts we tried the apple cobbler, peach cobbler, and lemon cake. The cobblers were good, although the "crust" in the peach cobbler was gummy and the peaches weren't sweet. The lemon cake, noricing tasted like lemon, if not for the bright yellow coloring I would have thought it was supposed to be a vanilla cake slice. All in all it was decent, not overwhelmingly amazing and not horrible. Basically, middle of the road. This is a perfect place togo when you want a heavy southern type meal but don't want to cook. Read more

I cannot believe how bad this restaurant (Decatur Location) has fallen off! The food is terrible now. They must have all new... cooks. This used to be one of my favorite places to go because the food was so well prepared and seasoned. We?ll blended Mac andcheese, moist seasoned dressing, and soft yams. Today, I?m angry that I purchased a plate from here spending $16. The food isbland, dry, and yams are hard and flavorless?sad face. Read more
