Reviews for Solomon's Delicatessen in Davis, CA
Delicious food for a good price and excellent service. Thank you Solomon's for catering our Mother's Day brunch. My family was... visiting from the East coast and were so impressed we had such an authentic Jewish deli here in CA. Read more
Came in this morning for breakfast. Grabbed smoked sturgeon on black sea salt bagel. I'm pretty picky about my bagels, and these... were really great. Fish was excellent (and there was a pile of it). Wife opted for the smoked salmon, which was also quite good.We will definitely come by again!! Read more
I was hoping to be able to experience NYC deli in Davis, but alas no. My family ordered a round of "The Stanley" hot pastrami... sandwiches. The pastrami was fairly tasteless and the rye was not flavorful. My husband commented that Trader Joe's corn ryewould have been a step up with regard to the bread. The sandwiches were pricey for what you received ($12.44/ sandwich) and toachieve a traditional Reuben sandwich, you needed to pay an additional $1.99 for the Swiss cheese and $1.33 for sauerkraut. Iordered "The Terri" which was an albacore tuna melt that was toasted black and the tuna was laden with mayonnaise with little tono seasoning. I should also mention that your sandwich comes with a pickle spear and that's it... no cole slaw or even potatosalad! This is no delicatessen. When I travel to the Bay area and return to Davis, I never miss an opportunity to visit Saul'sRestaurant & Delicatessen in Berkeley with a large cooler to bring back some of the best pastrami and corned beef my family hasever had on the West Coast. They also sell terrific smoked fish, rye bread and pickles. If you have a hankering for deli andwant to take the drive to the East Bay, Saul's is the place to go! Perhaps the folks at Solomon's could take some cues fromSaul's. Read more
My husband and I are real fans of Jewish delis, so when we heard that one finally opened in Davis we immediately went and picked... up lunch. What a disappointing experience! Matzo ball soup ($7.77) did not have any chicken or noodles, the vegetables werepretty much raw and even the matzo ball was not cooked through. Not to mention the ridiculously small size of a portion for 8bucks. The hot pastrami sandwich ($13) was NOT hot, the cheese was not melted, and it was served with mustard instead of Russiandressing as requested. Summary: high priced bad food. EDIT (as a response to the owner): As I said we picked up food (to go) sowe definitely could not have addressed the issue while there. Also the experience was not ?not ideal? it was plainly disastrous. Read more
Great food, largish portions. The staff is friendly and they really make you feel welcomed. The only heads up- the corned beef... and pastrami sandwiches are salty. This review comes from a regular at Langers and Canters delis In Los Angeles! Read more
