Mayflower's here in Darlington was amazing to say the least! The food was great, the plates were MASSIVE, and the service was... top notch! The have a pretty large menu to choose from with some unique item on it. Once again the plates are rather large mostpeople will probably do just fine with a kids plate especially senior citizens. The place can get rather packed so plan aheadfor that. I would say the prices are really reasonable for the amount of food you get also. This was our 2nd visit to Mayflower. We are transplants from Maine and love seafood. I had the sea scallops and hubby had fried... haddock which isn't available at many restaurants down south. We weren't greeted at arrival so seated ourselves and waited ashort time for our waitress. It didn't take long for our food to arrive and all was very good except hubby didn't like how hiscabbage was prepared. We got the smaller servings which were huge. Food was fair at best. The side salad was really good. I got the chicken Parm. Came with meat sauce?? I don't get it. Wasn't... good, average at best. I've never had chicken Parm fixed that way and I don't want it again. Should be just marinara. Myopinion. Anyway the other meal ordered was the scallops and salmon. Decent seafood at a good price. Great price on their lunch specials. They were very crowded when I went but the waitstaff did a... good job considering the size of the crowd. Huge portions at reasonable prices. Very busy with a 30 minute wait when we arrived on a Saturday night. Staff is friendly. We... ordered the Broiled Seafood Combo and I couldn't finish all of it! Three varieties of fish, shrimp, scallops, and a stuffedcrab along with hush puppies and two sides, all for $18.99. We also tried the Fried Dill Pickles as an appetizer. Good seafood, very reasonably priced! I got the broiled seafood combo and my girlfriend had the fried seafood combo. It came... with whiting fish, scallops, shrimp, deviled crab, and hush puppies! My favorite part personally was the hush puppies. Westarted with an appetizer that we did not understand correctly. We ordered the Mexican okra, which turned out was not okra atall! It was fried jalapeños, which was served with ranch and were very good but we thought it was part fried jalapeños andpart fried okra, but we know for next time!!! Thanks for the hospitality.
