I just spent a week in Dania Beach working a big festival gig. My days were so long that I didn't have a chance to try any of... the local seafood places. So when I finally had one last day before my plane left back to Vegas, I did a bit of research andfound this little place called Tarks. The reviews looked pretty good. I was looking for an unassuming place with personalityand, of course, great food. I went in at about 11:30 a.m. and the place was already getting going. It's simply a three-sidedcounter with the kitchen and serving area exposed, kind of like a bar setup. I was greeted immediately by the lovely Victoria, whose personality and winning smile set this experience off on the right foot. I ordered an Arnold Palmer and looked at the menufor a bit. I wanted some raw seafood so I ordered a half dozen oysters and the fresh grilled grouper dinner. The oysters wereshucked right in front of me by the same young lady and they were succulent, Briny, ice cold, and delicious. I got about halfwaythrough my oysters when the grilled grouper arrived. It was laid out on a plate and had the classic grill marks on it. It musthave weighed 10 to 12 oz. There were two beautiful fillets of tender, moist, fresh, fish served with Tarks signature curlyfries, lemon, and tartar sauce. As I ate my lunch, I I noticed James, the guy next to me, (a regular), had ordered mahi mahi,or dolphin as they refer to it locally. *For those who are unaware, mahi-mahi is also referred to as dolphin fish, but it is nota dolphin that breathes air, but a fish with gills and all that. When I saw the serving in front of him, I knew I had to trythat as well and I promptly ordered some. These dishes were simple prepared fresh grilled fish fillets with no fancy BS involvedin their presentation. The flavor was better than fish that I have paid 3 times more for in fancy restaurants. As I ate, Iengaged Victoria in conversation, asking about the restaurant's history. She explained that Tarks had been Read more
Hole in the wall place with some of the best seafood in South Florida. It's small, a bit run down, but crowded with happy... patrons feasting upon great food at fair prices. We opted for fried oysters and fried scallops with the fish dip appetizer. Allthe dishes were cooked perfectly and the fish dip as good as in any 4 star restaurant. We will be back soon. Read more

Review from a non local! Our dishes were delicious but wow this place is THE hole in the wall of all hole in the... walls. Ordered the 5 piece shrimp cocktail, 10 piece Buffalo seasoned shrimp, gator tail dinner, beer battered fish fry, 8piece fried shrimp meal. Total before gratuity was $88.xx Ordering food was awkward. Walk into Small building that seats 10and wait for cashier to make eye contact to take order. Cashier had no idea if food had egg, Milk or butter. I was disappointedthat they couldn’t answer my question but I took my chances. We sat outside and all seating was messy and unkept. Every tablehad ash trays full and soiled tables. We cleaned our own table. They were so busy they could only do the minimum of taking traysaway. We received our food hot and fresh within 30 min. Everything tasted really good. Service was satisfactory. Nothingextraordinary. When it came to paying and tipping, it was awkward and the cashier couldn’t figure the gratuity part. We had togive cash instead. Overall, it was delicious. And the environment made for a unique time. Sitting outside was a very louddining time since the restaurant is right off the main road. I recommend, as it was good food. My husband really liked it. Ifone doesn’t care for the wait for seating or messy tables, it would be a low key place to get tasty seafood. The locals dolove Tarks. Read more

I was there in 2019. A bit of late review, but after checking my google story I decided to drop a review. This place is just... absolutely awesome, the food is so good and quite affordable. Don't let yourself be discourage for the look and the crowd. Iwent twice and my wife and I were the only "touristy" looking people. Everyone else was hard working locals. Still, it deliveredsome sort of familiar feeling. Make sure to try the oysters and the chicken wing. Best ever. I hope we manage to go back to theUS for more of Tarks. Read more

It's small and run-down, but it's packed with cheerful customers enjoying wonderful meals at reasonable costs. It'sjust a three-sided counter with the kitchen and serving area visible, similar to a bar configuration. Within 30 minutes, we hadhot and fresh dinner.Everything tasted good. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The setting created a one-of-a-kindexperience.Because the restaurant is situated off the main road, dinner time is very loud, whether you sit outside or inside. Irecommend it since the meal was consistently good. My buddies and I enjoyed it and want to return frequently.
