I ordered the lemon cupcake and it was unlike any local bakery item I have tried from other places around Dallas. It truly... tastes unrefined! Do not expect some super sweet dessert. You can taste the very simple ingredients and it tastes like somethingyou can make from scratch at home. Even the lemon taste is very, very subtle. Hinting at no artificial ingredients. You would bemaking a smarter choice if you go here. If that is what you are into, then I recommend it. If Cheesecake Factory type of dessertis more your thing, then I would pass this up. Read more
It is always a pleasureful treat at Unrefined Bakery. I was fortunate enough to discover them about 5 years ago. This, and the... other 3 locations I have been to, never disappoint. Only place I can find where I can actually have cupcakes and not get sick.... I don't feel they are worth the price. The carrot... cake was ok. I forgot the exact name of the chocolate caramel one, which was THE biggest disappointment of all my visits. Flavor was less than adequate and the so called filling was almost hard to find. The best of the three was the strawberryvanilla. It was ok, but not worth the price.... except for the fact that all these needed specialized ingredients areexpensive. I reached out to Unrefined several weeks ago to get a quote on a custom birthday cake. Days later I received an email saying the... head decorator was sick but not to worry because they could still make my cake. Days went by and I didn't receive a call orupdate so I called the bakery to ask if the cake could still be made, they assured me they would but, that they could not giveme a price point. Only the head decorator could and she was not in but that I would receive a call in a few days. I waited somemore and received a call last Saturday saying the cake could not be made at the Medallion location but that the Preston locationcould take care of it and to wait for a call from the decorator there. I asked again if I could get an estimate on the cost andshe said no, but to not worry because the baker would call me that same day or Monday the latest. It is now Thursday and I stillhave not had a call about the cake needed for this Saturday. Very disappointed at the level of customer service at Unrefined andthe fact that they went radio silent. At this point I do not have a cake and the only solution will be to purchase somethingfrom a grocery store. I reached out to this bakery specifically because they cater to individuals with food allergies but goingforward I will seek specialty cakes from another bakery that is responsive. Read more
