I ordered the burger basket bacon hickory cheeseburger. The beef patties were tasty. But thought the bbq sauce was lacking some... taste. The bacon was a bit overcooked and the vegetables on the burger were hard to find. I thought that the fries portion thatcame with it was way too small, but the taste was good. All in all nice burger. An old Oak Lawn favorite opened a second location in Bishop Arts District. I haven't been to either location in several years... since I retired and the pandemic has kept me out of the area. The menu is still the same. The employees are friendly andhelpful. The service was great. The food was as good as I remembered. And the made fresh daily desserts are still temptinglyplaced in a line down the counter. I had the red velvet and it was fabulous as usual. They serve frozen adult tasty beveragesnow. Read more
Customer service excellent. Chicken fried steak dry, I don't recommend. Someone came to table and asked if all was well. I... said no, the chicken fried steak was not good and they just smiled. I asked for mayo because it was lacking. Onion rings andfried mushrooms had a great tempura batter and DELISH!!! Really neat place in a really neat part of town. You will enjoy walking around the area especially if you finish this very... filling burger. I ordered the Texas Cheeseburger Basket. It was two patties, two slices of cheese, perfectly cooked bacon onbuttery grilled texas toast. I normally devour everything put in front of me but I made the wise decision to only eat half andsave the other half for later. I upgraded to tempura style onion rings for $.50 more. They were ok. But where they lacked wasmore than made up for in the burger. It was very very tasty. They had some beautiful cakes on display but I was much too full totry them. Awesome food. Large menu. Old diner vibe. Super friendly staff. Definitely get the onion rings when you go, they're the best.
Do not recommend. The food was great but not for the price. The server implied that a side dish came with the burger but it... didn't which is a very shady business practice. The table side service was ok. The BBQ chicken sandwich was subpar at best andthe hamburger according to my partner was ok at best. Normally after a bad first impression I would come back and try somethingelse because I might just have had something they had that wasn't good but because of what happened at the front counter I can'trecommend anyone else go there and I will try everything to not go back.
