Some of the best fried chicken and great service as well! Our server Nisha was attentive, made sure our drinks were promptly... refilled, and checked on us after each course. LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING. So while I got a good photo of the food please don't let this fool you. The chicken wasn't alright. It... was fried a little too hard and not seasoned enough. The mac n cheese tasted like it was made with cheese whiz or something. Itdefinitely wasnt a favorite. I will say the potato salad and okra were good but that's just not enough for me to visit again. Finger lickin delicious chicken! I've had worse things than the sweet potato pie too. It's difficult to rate a fried chicken... joint because I don't think I've ever had any that I didn't like. I guess you could say I'm a bit of a chicken sl*t. That said,Gus's is a no frills chicken joint in the heart of Deep Ellum. It's relatively inexpensive and good. Gus' lived up to the hype! Certainly some of the best fried chicken I've ever eaten! And the fried green tomatoes were... excellent too! The Cole slaw was sweet like KFC, which is what I like. And the macaroni and cheese was good too. But thesides were not why we came! It was all about the chicken and it was worth the drive! Beware, the parking SUCKS in Deep Ellumand Gus's was not immune to that challenge. Beware of the "imposter" parking lot attendants in the area. They will try theirbest to get your money! Read more
Eclectic vibe with self seating. I like the mix matched chairs and old school table cloths. Creates a homey environment. Guests... were acknowledged pretty quickly. A little bit of a wait but well worth it. The dark chicken was delicious. It was spicy,crunchy and moist. The skin and the chicken were both seasoned well. The potato salad was made with new potatoes. It wasn't toomushy or too chunky just right. The baked potato were also good. They have really good sweet tea. The chicken is one of the best I've had. Extremely crispy, loud with ever bite. Has a kick to it and it comes out piping hot. It... wasn't greasy at all. Sides were also good for the price. Enjoy! Read more
