Reviews for Front Room Tavern in Dallas, TX
Came here for drinks at 7pm, relatively early for a Saturday night and to our surprise it was pretty empty. Thinking this was... perfect for our party of 9 as we were meeting for a friends Birthday we took a seat at the booth directly in front if the bar.The server was very nice but clearly overwhelmed as her help was lacking urgency or motivation. (1server/1 buss boy) There werethree other events being hosted at the hotel that night and it was clear the restaurant was understaffed. We waited over 40minutes to be acknowledged and another 30 just be served some, not all of our drinks. Unfortunately those drinks were not madecorrectly. At this point we were over it and our now hour and a half long experience for 4 nasty drinks we couldn't even drink. The manager was understanding and comped our bill. The server was understanding and apologized. Maybe try this place out whenthere isn't 3 weddings happening on one night. Read more
Decent food but NOT worth the wait. I visited Front Room Tavern on a Saturday night before seeing a show at the McFarlin... Auditorium. There we’re maybe 5 tables full. When we arrived, we were told that we could take a seat where ever we wanted (werequested outside) and that the waitress would follow us out… 38 minutes later and we had yet to see our waitress, get waters,or even menus. We ended up moving in to the bar to receive service as the bartender and the bus boy ignored our waves (we madeeye contact and yet they never came over). Even with sitting at the bar, each food item we ordered took a minimum of 40 minutesto arrive (and seemed to have been left under a heat lamp) and our drinks took 20+ minutes. At one point, we ended upre-requesting a drink and the bartender did not remember that we had ordered, much less what the drink was. We ordered 3different food items. They were good, but pretty average. An hour and 45 minutes for a dinner, solely based on service? I willnot be returning. Read more
If you want drinks and appetizers this is the place to go. Wife and I had some old fashioneds which were much better than many... places in Dallas. Brussels sprouts and cauliflower were excellent. The entrees were a different story. Chicken and steak wereboth way over cooked. Chicken was cold and steak lacked flavor. Read more
the food was incredibly expensive. I paid $15 for a small breakfast burrito. my husband had $10 eggs and bacon. He ordered the... $15 pancakes on the side and they were brought out late and when they got to the table they were so cold. we had to send themback. Then chef Johhny came to our table and gave me the correct breakfast burrito which was huge, apparently the one the linecook made the first time was not correct. The chef apologized profusely and gave me a to go box with the free correct meal.finally the hot pancakes were brought out. Read more
Tried this out for a celebration dinner. the staff was very helpful. the food was cooked perfectly (great pork chop). It is... definitely more of a tavern than a restaurant. a very limited selection of food and is geared more towards its tavern side ofthings. For the price I probably would not go again though. Heard this place is good for both brunch and for dinner so this review is for dinner and specifically during restaurant... week. So my thought is restaurant week is still the same food and no smaller portions. With that in mind, the entree at thisplace was a bit too small for me. If I didn't come during restaurant week when you don't get a full 3 course menu I would thinkthis place was outrageously over priced for the portion you get. Therefore my recommendation is you come during restaurant orwhen your not super hungry. Overall place is good. I love that they source their ingredients from local farms, including themeat (44 farms same location that Knife gets it from). I give this place a 4 star because like I said during restaurant weekthis place is good. The appetizer was good (BBQ Chilli pork ribs are divine) so tender. The cheese board is really good. Ilove it when it comes with a honeycomb. The entree was small unfortunately but tasted good overall. I got the 44 farms topsirloin. The desert was really good (panna cotta). Also loved that our waitress really went out of her way to make sure mysister had a great experience and gave us the sorbet dessert as well as my sister wasn't a fan of the panna cotta so she gave itback. To me the waitress was really what raised it a star. I would put 2 stars without tasting the brunch. Again I haven't beenhere for brunch so maybe their potions for brunch are good that the one entree will be big enough to fill you. Read more
Did not have a good Mother's Day experience here. They did not offer the regular menu which is fine but when you are paying $50... + 20% gratuity per person for a 3 course meal you expect more. Then you have to get up and get your own buffet dessert as yourthird course. The portions were very small, food was cold when we finally got it. Our waiter did not want to explain anything onthe menu and came to our table as minimal as possible we were just supposed to know what everything was. Overall a badexperience and made us not want to come back and try the regular menu. Read more
This was disappointing. I went into the bar with a group of people. It took 30 minutes to order an old fashioned and it took... another 30 minutes to get my drink to me. Another person in our group got a moscow mule that was disgusting. My old Fashionedwas also disgusting. Other drinks in the bar had coctail ice cubes. I had ice chips from a vending machine. For being a nicerplace, they can not seem to get how the bar should run. Refused to order food because 1 drink took an hour! Will never return.Nor will any of the 12 people that were with me.
