On a beautiful night hubby and I decided to stop by and try it out....So glad we did!! Food was delicious and fresh. Smaller... portions than most, but the taste makes up for it. I was there just last weekend sheltering from the pouring rain while visiting around downtown Dallas. The staff was happy to... bring me some soup on the house and I had their delicious soya tacos (vegan) in addition to my soup. Can honestly say I wasimpressed by the flavor. Cute spot, fast service and filling portions. Would recommend! Read more

Restaurant is right across from JKF Plaza. Restaurant itself had a great fresh look not your typical Mexican restaurant... places. We ordered the trio for our appetizer...the guacamole was so delicious maybe the best I've had!! If you are extremelyhungry and expect unlimited chips and salsa, this is not your place at all! It's very bougie and modern twist to Mexican. Thefood was delicious. Being a vegetarian, not much you can eat. I would have never tried anything with pineapple, but my tacoswere great once I added the sauces from my trio. They give you complimentary soup with your meal. Portions are small for theprice if you are hungry! Our tour lady across the street told us about the best coleslaw in town...it was marinated cabbage..notthe best. If you want different then this is your place. If you want portions and typical then find somewhere else toeat. Restaurant and restrooms were clean, waitress was sweet, and the food arrived quickly. I had a great experience here. Server was nice, the tacos tasted great, and the atmosphere was fun. Portions however were a bit... small for the price but given that it's in downtown Dallas, it makes sense. Come here when you aren't too hungry and you'll havea great time! Frozen marg was great and out of all the tacos I had, (carnitas, brisket, and pollo al pastor) pollo al pastor wasdefinitely my favorite. Like so many places, Chimalma was short-staffed during our visit. Nonetheless, we still enjoyed the atmosphere and food. They've... done a very nice job with their small space. We were hankering for Mexican lunch on Saturday that was within a walk somewhere between our hotel and the downtown historic... district. Chimalma made sense and it did not disappoint. The service was welcoming and prompt, and wonderfully sustained duringour time. We started with chips and guacamole and they happily accommodated our desire for salsa. There?s a full assortment oftacos available, but I went for the chicken enchilada with mole sauce. Delicious and enough to fuel me for afternoon touristythings. We have another lunch slot to fill before we fly home, and we?ll definitely make a repeat lunch, it is that good. Read more
