Reviews for Captain's Table in Custer, SD
Service was great, despite the short staff, that all restaurants are experiencing. The food was great, hubby had fish n chips... w/ slaw. I had steak and salad. We had a large group of 6 adults and 2 children, they made it work for us.Thanks to the staff. Read more
Go Here only if you can't drive to any other restaurant!!!!!! And then if you go only order the overprised $10 fries but bring... your own salt shaker. You will save money on the tip because severs is a -5 and they watch your every move. I was staving beforeI left the building. And spent well over hundred bucks our 1st time ever wanting to return our food and run as fast as possibleelsewhere. From service to food I give it a negative 1000000000000 . Run and run anywhere else Read more
It wasn't bad. Server was really nice. The food, that we ordered, was frozen to deep fried. I think it was a bit pricey as... nothing was actually prepared there. Frozen shrimp, fish and fries....deep fried and served on fancy plates. Read more
Carla is a gem of a waitress and was helpful and hospitable the whole time! The infused cinnamon apple and orange liquors were... delicious. The fish and chips was great and so was the hash brown casserole side. Yummy house made ranch as well. Greatexperience overall, but I think the entrees were a bit overpriced given the portion size. The service and food itself wasotherwise a thumbs up. Read more
It was not good dining experience. I'm baffled. First we ordered strawberry margarita - they brought regular one with... strawberry syrup in another glass and told us the bartender forgot it was supposed to be strawberry so I can mix it myself.During dinner someone (not our server) brought me another margarita and I thought maybe they wanted to offer free drink orsomething because they messed up my first one (couldn't ask because this person disappeared). Nope. After few minutes same ladycame over and said she brought me someone else's drink so she took it and BROUGHT IT TO ANOTHER TABLE. Now the food - I orderedshrimp and rice pilaf (side is not included so you have to order it as extra). The "rice pilaf"... just look at the picture. Itwas not edible. Salty, mushy and overcooked, with brown something that looked like... beans? Shrimp was way overcooked aswell. My husband's french dipper was ok and my daughter enjoyed her hamburger. Overall - honestly it was not good dinner. Read more
We spotted this restaurant while driving through Custer and decided to try it out. I chose the Chicken Oscar and it was very... good. The waitress was very friendly and kind which is hard to find these days. We were pleased with our time here. Read more
They are open late and that was how we ended up there. Surprising how little is open in this heavily touristed area after 9 pm... on a Saturday night. This restaurant is a little run down but we were thankful to find real food. We enjoyed the friendlywaitress, fast service, and free live music available. Read more
We ate at the Captains Table on a Monday night in September. I wasn’t impressed by how the place looked on the outside but... given our choices in Custer were very limited on a Monday, I decided to take a chance. It was a VERY BAD decision. Firstimpressions count and it was awful. The place smelled of stale smoke, the serve had dirty clothes, didn’t look like he hadshowered in some time, and had missing teeth. The inside looked old (as in REALLY old) and run down. The waitress was not veryquick but seemed friendly. First, she messed up the beer ordered but given I asked for Kona, and she thought I said Corona, Igive her some grace. The food was very greasy, and my shrimp was missing the cocktail sauce, the only other item it was to beserved with. By the time we were done eating, all we wanted to do was get out of there as quickly as we could. I gave thewaitress my credit card and she returned with the bill. The bill was in a black case and truthfully, since my card was a verydeep blue, I don’t know if the card was with the bill and I was so anxious to leave that I missed it or it was not returned. Ididn’t discover the missing card until the next day. The restaurant isn’t open on Tuesday or Wednesday and there is noafter-hours number posted. When I contacted the credit card company, I learned four additional charges had been made about anhour after we left. I contacted the police who discovered the card was on the counter next to the credit card machine. The storyI was told is that the machine was extremely sensitive and picked up my card when the four other charges were made. This seems abit fishy and furthermore, it seems odd that no one questioned the fact the card was sitting there and made no attempt tocontact the credit card company who could have notified me. I urge any traveler to Custer South Dakota to avoid this place evenif it is a Monday night. You are better off at fast food restaurant than at this place. I give it no stars but unless I give a Read more
