Fabulous! I have been meaning to write this review for way too long. I dined at Dear John's in Spring 2021 during Dine LA week.... We were seated outside and attended to graciously. The food was excellent and just the perfect serving to leave you full but notstuffed. A family member introduced me to this spot and I don't know how I went so long without eating here before. I dined at DJ last Friday night. Its a restaurant that I've been wanting to try for a very long time. I'm rating it 3 starts... because of the cocktail served to us - Ordered an old fashioned and I'm pretty disappointed to say it unfortunately was probablythe worst old-fashioned thats ever been served to me- the drink was bitter and not balanced and since we ordered two and bothtasted like that it was def not a one off incident. I didn't order another drink after. Unfortunately, that did kick us off onthe wrong foot; but the food was good; pics of my order attached. Providing this feedback less as a complaint but more as a MUSThave area of improvement for a restaurant like this - its def a deterrent for me to come back and due to this experience I'vemoved a reservation for 4 that I had here to a different restaurant. The food is phenomenal. Best center-cut grilled pork chop I have ever had. Service is amazing, too. And you can’t beat the... 1962 Dear John’s vibe and history. So glad this classic place was saved from Covid shutdown fate. Read more

Classic spot originally opened by Sinatra back in the 60s. Maintains that air of nostalgia without feeling old. Old school food,... good drinks. Read more

A great high end meal. There wasn’t a single lack luster dish or drink served. The midnight margarita (pictured) was beautiful... and tasty. The bougie tots were delicious and well worth the order. The entire table was raving about them. I got the salmon andit was impeccable. Not a single person left disappointed. Read more

Giving this place three stars for phone service, free parking and a very patient and very knowledgable server, Elizabeth and... trying to be forgiving in the current pandemic. The Rockenwagner and Citron chef names now behind the place, and why we were soexcited to try, have impeccable records in their own dining rooms that afforded lifetime memory meals. Maybe the bar alone isthe way to go. The cocktails (average $15) are fine. . The food is mediocre and outrageously priced. A $28 caesar salad for twowith lank tiny croutons and lettuce (before tax/gratuity) lists a table side "performance"that would make Lawry's Prime Ribwaitresses choke. And it isn't that the exec chef there is not aware. When the steak tartare ($26) that had a gummy texture toit was sent back to the kitchen he said it "tasted fine to him." (uneaten it was taken off the check) It seems as though FrankSinatra has dined at more and more places in LA and who knows, maybe this was close to MGM. But at others, such as Marino,Matteo, Matteo's, La Dolce Vita, La Scala etc. the food is more the quality you would expect. Read more
