I love Dan?s whole belly clams, but this review is specifically for Dan?s lobster roll. ???? While it looks wonderful, looks... were deceiving in this instance. The lobster was tough and sadly, quite flavorless. It?s obvious that this lobster wasovercooked. This roll isn?t a tenth as good as the ones I go out of my way for from Cousins Maine Lobster truck which haslobster rolls on par with the ones I got while living in Maine. ???? UPDATE: apparently Dan can?t accept that they overcookedmy lobster, instead of apologizing, they disparage their competitor, inferring that Cousins Maine Lobster doesn?t use freshlobster - they indeed do use fresh lobster. Dan?s also touts that they use whole lobster while Cousins only uses claw andknuckle meat. Any aficionado knows that the knuckle and claw meat is much more tender and flavorful which always delivers extrapoints to my palate. Read more
My Brothers invited us out to Dan?s Clam restaurant for a birthday celebration. We all enjoyed our meals. We came from the New... England area and always enjoy a seafood meal we all had different seafood dishes except for one of us that decided on a gator.All of our meals were amazing seafood. The sides could have been better and hotter in temperatures. The service and the waitresswas very prompt, fast, had a sense of humor and did her job well. The restaurant was clean and seemed well staffed. Our mealswere quickly prepared and served with a smile. This is the second time for my husband and I have chosen this restaurant, werecently moved to FL. This restaurant is a little far from us and only go this restaurant on the way to my Brother?s house,almost 2 hrs. away. My brothers highly recommend Dan?s Clam. Read more
While scanning local eateries I came across this promising highly rated establishment that was reminiscent of clam shacks in my... old hometown in Massachusetts. Well imagine my surprise that find out that Dan of Dan's Clam Stand, is in fact, from that veryplace. No brainer that a trip here was a must and I absolutely was not disappointed at all. I understand this joint is oftenpacked and I get it but we were able to get in and seated right away, of course it was mid-January :-) It was still pretty busybut the service, drinks, apps and entrees all happened quickly and came out hot and fresh. Let's talk food now....... We hadpass arounds and I got THE very best onion rings that I've ever had, full stop! We couldn't resist the steamed clams app (20 for$10.99) and while they're not "steamers" they were some delicious little necks with a garlic steamed sauce that were fabulous!Everybody got some clam chowder and it is absolutely one if the best New England clam chowders I've ever had and I've hadchowder from PEI to every New England state and beyond. We had friend clams, fish, lobster, scallops and more that wereabsolutely spot on! The sides were all very good so the meal from start to finish was one of the best dining experiences thatI've had in a really long time. There's a lot to like about this "Clam Stand" although throughout New England they're usuallynamed "clam shacks" but the food inside is every bit as delightful as the shacks I've frequented in ME, MA, RI, CT, & NH plussome New England pretenders like NY & NJ. If the experience wasn't top notch already I stopped a pleasant, humble andunassuming gentleman who was filling our drinks and simply asked "you wouldn't happen to be the Dan would you?" Dan is phenomenal, and his food is TRULY EXCEPTIONAL. OBVIOUSLY HE'S FROM NEW ENGLAND AND ORDERS HIS FOOD AND IT IS PERFECT WITH... IPSWICH STEAMED CLAMS. THE WRONG OYSTERS ABSOLUTELY EXCEPTIONAL. DELICIOUS CLAM CHOWDER THE BEST EVER! Perfect little place witha deck out front whereas it's best I like prior to dinner hour. We could not stop ordering food..Left feeling over stuffed, aswanted to try everything on the menu. Absolutely fabulous and our waitress was Cherie, so VERY sweet!! We will see you soon. When you want seafood, this is a must if you are near. This local place has many choices on the menu. The parking lot is always... full; that?s a good sign. We had some friends join us for dinner. We started with clam chowder; absolutely fresh and delicious.For dinner I ordered the Captain?s Platter. It was delicious. My wife ordered the Steam Oysters. Unfortunately my wife got verysick and did not have the great experience. I understand these things happen, but cooks should know better. Our friends orderedother dishes but I will only say that the presentation was nice. The waitress was very nice, but seemed to be stretched beyondnormal so the table service was not on point. We might return another day, but we certainly won?t have steamed oysters again. Read more
We have been to Dan?s Clam Stand multiple times and it?s just as good as the last time. My husband and I are both from New... England. Dan?s seafood is just as amazing as New England style seafood from New England. They have also been great with ourkids. Dan?s brings a live lobster to the table for our kids to see and touch. They also got to feed the fish in the fish tanktoo. Highly recommend!! Read more
