I'm not a whiskey drinker so it was the BBQ that got my attention. And I wasn't disappointed. The ribs were awesome, and the... side of shrimp wasn't to bad either. They bring you three sauces, hot, mild and raspberry. The hot has a bit of a bite to it,but not overwhelmingly so. Our waitress was prompt to start and our drinks and order were in right away, but they had herassigned to a private party of 25 and she all but disappeared once they started arriving. Otherwise, I believe she would havebeen great. Overall, I would eat here again if I were passing throuh the area. But... there are quite a few other options aroundthe square to choose from. Read more
Great vibe, loved the music(made me wish that they had a dance floor), we enjoyed our meal. Definitely had left overs. Customer... service was great. The slaw was alright but they waitress took care of us. Ill be back when im in town. Read more

First time in and the staff was friendly, and the place very clean with a very relaxed vibe. The cocktails were great, our food... was amazing with great depth of flavor. Definitely would make the drive to dine again. Read more
We just so happened to be in the area when we smelled the delicious smell of bbq. We decided to give True a chance. They were... celebrating their one year anniversary with a Taki party. And their food was delicious. Omg Their smoked cornbeef was to diefor. I could go back and ask for a platter of just that along with so many of their delicious drinks. We were there on Friday late. They were still serving food . I ordered the nachos and they were very accommodating. The also had... a DJ playing and that was fun. Would go back when I am in town again. Crown point is such a cute town! Nice job Read more
Mixed feelings. Potatoe chips were bland. Pickles were the sweet variety. French fries looked cool, but were pretty doughy.... Sauces were ok, but all very similar (was hoping the "hot" one would have some heat). Slaw was not so good either. BUT thechicken burger was very nice! Went out and met some family in crown point for a meal, and on a whim we ended up at True BBQ and Whiskey Bar, just right off... the square in town. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I’m glad we came in! The bar had a nice energy to it, and we werequickly seated and taken care of. In terms of drinks, I was not expecting to get something alcoholic, but our waitress broughtout a seasonal drink menu for Halloween, and how can I turn down the opportunity for absinthe? I ordered myself the Night ofthe Living Dead, which had absinthe, rum, some bitters, lime, and a few other assorted additions. The big eye draw is theactual syringe that has MORE rum and grenadine in it. Administer 50CC’s of the syringe mixture to the “skull” andyou’ll be feeling quite good, and it tastes great as well. As someone who eats generally plant based, I was skeptical aboutfinding food options for me at a BBQ joint in Northwest Indiana. However, True BBQ actually does have a handful of veganoptions, conveniently listed as such on the menu. I ordered the Vegan Pulled Pork Sandwich, which was made with some deliciousjackfruit and topped with a mild barbecue sauce and some vegan slaw. The barbecue sauce paired with the jackfruit gave me theflavor I was looking for, but also a similar texture, which can be important for taste. After crushing my sandwich and cleaningoff those messy fingers I rounded my meal out with those fries, which were surprisingly crunchy for a big as they are! Thosefries definitely hit the spot, a great way to wrap a quality meal. I don’t often find reasons to come out to Crown Pointthese days, but maybe I’m going to have to start fabricating excuses, because this was a great visit and I look forward to thenext! Read more
