Reviews for Golden Pine Chinese Restaurant in Courtice, ON

I used to live in Scarborough so I've experienced some pretty good Chinese restaurants for Canada. (This isn't one of... them) First off I'd like to say the reviews were pretty misleading - I like to check reviews first before I go somewhere and Iassume people have taste buds, but I was fooled again. This is the most bland so called Chinese food I've probably ever had. The beef was chewy like they used the lowest cut of meat to make beef broccoli, the chicken was sparse and bland for each one ofmy dishes I tried (I tried three chicken fried rice the chicken chop suey and the Shanghai noodle with chicken). The only decentthing about the meal were the egg rolls but they were probably pre-made by somebody else. Not what I expected for almost 50bucks. Great Chinese food. The best one around as well. Prices are correct, and people who would complain are taking the prep of the... ingredients for granted. I always buy shanghai noodles and vegetables to go with. I get to eat it for 2 days and it's stillgood. Call in before you order as they only have take out at the moment. I have been to this restaurant a couple of times since its close to home. The food is okay depending on what you get and the... rice had a weird smell today. However, the lady at the front is extremely rude, disrespectful and has an attitude for noapparent reason. She has ZERO concept of customer service skills for this reason I will never return, or recommend them. I wouldmuch rather put my money into a business where they value ALL of their customers. New to the area and have been looking for tasty chineese food. Got the 6 person meal and it was liked by all.

I like the food but they've really jacked up their prices lately. I get inflation but Chicken Chop Suey going from $6.95 to... $9.95 isn't covering extra costs, it's price gouging. Also be prepared to order 90-120 minutes ahead on a weekend. Read more

New to the area and tried this place based off the positive reviews and was pleasantly surprised. I got the family dinner combo... for 4 which came to just under $60 after tax. Very reasonable and very good portions, the pictures are of what was leftoverafter my boyfriend and I finished eating. Chicken balls were tasty about 50/50 chicken to breading ratio (which is better thanmost places), general Taos chicken had more of a soft batter (Wish it was a bit crunchier). Cantonese chow mein was very tasty,rice had good flavour but was a little mushy, chicken chop suey tasted as expected and egg rolls were good. Over all we willdefinitely be returning. Pretty decent Chinese food in Courtice. They are typically pretty busy so wait times can be a bit long. I recommend calling in... ahead. The food was flavourful, the prices are fair and I would definitely recommend you try Golden Pine out if you?re in thearea. Read more
