Reviews for Crown Room Brunch in Coronado, CA
We have been coming to the Sunday morning brunch at the Del for the last 25 years. It has always been a highlight for trips to... San Diego. The breadth, presentation and the quality of the food was always astounding. However, having spent $100+ per adulttoday, I was overwhelmingly disappointed with the experience. Although some of the food that was offered tasted good, some itemslike lemonade are now syrup-based drinks from the soda fountain. Hot chocolate tastes like powder mixed with water. Thepresentation and the variety has also dropped significantly since we were here a few years ago. There used to be chocolatefountains with strawberries, fresh honeycomb and cheese selections, fresh baked deserts, and huge paella spreads that werevisually stunning and delectable. Now, the selection, display and presentation is pedestrian and the chocolate fountain hasbeen replaced by a cotton candy machine. You pay more and get so much less than the last time I came. Therefore, the 25 yeartradition has officially come to an end, which makes me sad. Read more
We love the quality and selection of this brunch, but would have appreciated a bit better service for the price. Brought six... adults and had to make repeated requests for beverages. Still, there is something about the historical significance of thisplace that makes you relax and appreciate your surroundings and the luxury of this beautiful locale. Read more
The Crown Room brunch at Hotel Del is one of those little joys in life everyone should experience ar LEAST once! I first... experienced their brunch about 5 years ago. I took my then girlfriend and her mother for brunch. It was such an AMAZINGexperience that we have to go at least once a year! They have a station for everything! I didn't get a picture if every stationbecause I didnt want to be "that" guy, but I got a few pictures to share with you guys. It's one of the best customer serviceexperiences you'll encounter. Upon checking in for your time, there is no wait period (Make a reservation!). You are checkedin and then you are taken to your table by one of the many ready waiters/waitresses that greet you as you enter. Once at yourtable, you are now ready to explore the culinary wonders that await you! My favorite section is the breakfast station. Theyhave some brown sugar waffles that will BLOW YOUR MIND! fresh strawberries, whipped butter, berries, homemade whipped cream, and warm syrup are all there to accessorize your waffle. From there you can make your way to the omelette station or go to thecenter and peruse the carving station. They have lamb, ham, and roast beef with some au jus and horseradish sauce. My wifeopted for the ramen station and seafood section right off the bat. With every round I did, I took a trip to the cheesesection. Theres also a salad area and a poke station. I wasnt able to visit them all, but I feel like I got about 80% so i wasokay with that, lol. They also have live music playing which was really nice. We asked to be sat near a window and had a niceview. You can also ask for the patio and will eat with a great view of the courtyard. There's no way you can go wrong withbrunch here. Holidays are a little pricier than just your average Sunday brunch, but still worth it. You're looking around$80-90 a plate for adults on a normal brunch and somewhere in the area if $140 for a holiday brunch. Afterwards, Read more
Beyond delicious we went for mother's day and it the normal Sunday brunch is waaaay better! More choices na d less crowded!
Went here during the first weekend in April to celebrate a special occasion. It is definitely the best buffet brunch I've had in... San Diego so far. It is still a buffet, of course, and no food prepared in bulk is ever going to be as good as made-to-order,but they do a great job. For the money, the value is also good in that the drinks are truly unlimited, and the service is reallygreat; most buffets you're just on your own and they bring you drinks seldom and they're mixed sparingly. This place doesn'thave those issues. If you compare to the quality and selection of, say, The Buffet at Wynn in Vegas, the Crown Room doesn'treally stack up in terms of bang for buck if you're not drinking. The venue itself is really beautiful and classy. Read more
I was brought here for Mothers day and it was such a treat! It's such a beautiful Historical room. You feel like you are... transported through time back to the 1920s. There are several stations with your standard breakfast items and unique dishes aswell. Excellent service. Thank you boys! Read more
You need to treat yourself as royalty at least once in your life. This is that opportunity which should not be missed. My... Sunday brunch in the Crown Room was exceptional. The room was bright and a site to see. Service was superb which made up forthe cramped table which seemed to be nothing more then a small dressed up folding table. The food was wonderful, delicious andnever-ending. I loved the seafood and my daughter loved the donut station. Afterwards we worked off some of the calories bywalking down the beach and taking in some of the history of this beautiful hotel. Read more
Food wasnt too bad just extremely overpriced. We went for their Christmas brunch and for two people the price point with tax... and tip was around 350. It was maybe worth half that amount and that is pushing it. Also very hectic and chaotic. Not thefestive and special event I had hoped for. They also should either have separate bathrooms for the brunch guests or staff theexisting bathrooms with attendants. They were overcrowded and disgusting. Read more
