Reviews for Sun Fish Grill in Corolla, NC
The Sunfish Grill features tasty food, a friendly staff and hard-working waiters and waitresses. We took a group of 50 people... for lunch and they did a great job of getting us our lunch and a very timely manner. The food was good did everyone had a greattime. I enjoyed the fried oysters. I wouldn't have mind paying an extra dollar or two in getting another oyster on the plate. Wealso enjoyed the fried calamari and the chicken wings as appetizers. I also had a cup of the lobster bisque. I would find a wayto get some crab meat in there and a little bit more spice. It was tasty and creamy but a little bland. I did try one of theircocktails. I think it was called the Blue lagoon. Definitely not worth repeating. Overall a very positive experience anddefinitely worth another visit. Read more
I had the shrimp and grits. I thought my standards were too high after having this meal from another restaurant but I was wrong.... This meal is definitely by far the most delicious tasting shrimp and grits I have ever had. They perfected the sauce all the wayto the cooking of the grits. 10/10 would recommend. Also their calamari as an appetizer is a lot bigger than most places andthey do not skimp out. I will be back next year. Read more
Only reason a one star for this place exists is because of the French fries. Other than that, very mediocre. Chicken tastes like... it came from a can. In the southwest wrap chicken was cold and very dry. Ranch was consistency of water.. gross. And last butnot least the ?ghost? nachos were nothing but velveta cheese with more canned chicken on top. Will not be back. Everything aboutthis place was not good. Sorry not sorry Read more

We were visiting from Denver and came here for dinner. We were greeted at the door by the owner who explained there were few... things to offer as he was sold out of most the menu. John didn't turn us away, instead brought us in and assisted with puttingtogether one of the best dinners we've ever had. The crab cakes are out of this world and the shrimp and grits can't be matchedanywhere. If you are visiting Corolla you MUST try this place. The food can only be matched by the kindness of John who caresdeeply about his restaurant and guests. Thank you for an amazing dinner! Read more
Our group of 6 stopped late and we're amazed at the great food. The place was quiet before the holiday and I'm sure they were... looking to close soon but didn't rush us and served graciously. The owner or manager stopped by the table for some interestingconversation about the restaurant and his life and asked about ours as well. The food was unbelievable, from one person theshrimp and grits were "better than Mama's". Shrimp chorizo pasta was fantastic with the right amount of spicy. Salmon pasta wasalso the best I ever had. Will recommend and return if we ever have a chance!! Read more
If you want the best seafood in Corolla, this is the place for you! John, the friendly host will greet you at the door and add... your name to the list. You might wait for a table, wait for the menus and wait for your order to be taken. Then wait for yourfood to be delivered. But it will be worth the wait! The food is hot, fresh and well prepared. You won?t find better on this endof the Outer Banks, and probably not for the next 20 miles. The coronavirus has hit all businesses, and this one is noexception. They are short on staff, but they make up for it by serving up the best seafood around. We had 6 in our party, andreally only waited about 10 minutes. Among us, we ordered the shrimp platter, the oyster platter, the fish platter and theshrimp tacos. Each selection was hot and delicious. And it arrived in about the same time as you would expect from mostrestaurants. They also have a nice bar with a great selection of adult beverages. Look for the large gray building in theshopping center where everything else is painted yellow. There is plenty of parking. It?s upstairs, and the stairs are steep, sobe careful. If you don?t want to climb them there is an elevator on the street side of the building. We stay on the north end ofthe Outer Banks when we visit, and this is our ?go to? restaurant. Try and it will be one of yours too. , the owner and yourfriendly host. Read more
Came in the afternoon on a Wednesday. Service was quick, but the first problem was the club soda was flat in my drink order.... When I told the server, he asked if I would rather have tonic. No. I'd rather have club soda that isn't flat. The quality offood was nothing special. There was very little crab in the crab balls, they were mostly fillers. The shrimp Po boy was okay, but the roll it was served on was not a traditional French baguette. I would be willing to give this place another try, as Iliked the atmosphere here. Read more
