Reviews for Schobels' Restaurant in Columbus, TX
Good country cooking with Eastern European influences. You can truly taste the towns history here. That cook was in there... showing off. I absolutely fell in love with the fresh warm Sauerkraut. Friendly staff. Only 1 hiccup; it took 10-15 min forthe hostess to show up. As a result, a very long line if hungry people appeared very quickly. Turns our she took a bathroombreak. It was weird because the rest of the staff just kind of stared at us instead of helping. There is a salad buffet andmenu to order from. Prices are reasonable. I think more restaurants need to learn from them by having a bathroom on both sidesof the restaurant. (Love the handicap friendliness) Read more
Used to stop here on our yearly vacation trips to New Braunfels from Sugar Land when I was a kid. We don?t take those trips... anymore, so I sure miss eating there. It is a bit of a drive from Sugar Land, but I made the trip recently for a Sunday lunch. It brought back so many memories. I?m so glad this place is still here. It was very busy but we got seated right away. The friedchicken and sides from the buffet was delicious. The customer service was great. I plan on taking some more trips to eat therein the near future. It?s definitely worth the drive. Read more
Stopped by on our way back from Galveston to San Antonio. Opted for their buffet and it was so good. Chicken was delicious and... so was the stuffed pork loin, and all the sides. Loved their buttermilk pie so much that we ended up buying a whole one to takehome. This will for sure be our stop every time we travel this way. Read more
We're camping close by for a few weeks & have been here 3 times. Service has been excellent..lots of young staff. One time we... were billed incorrectly (charged for a buffet, but ordered just the salad bar), but they were so busy we just let it go. YummyBLT with chicken & rice soup (lots of rice). The best wiener schnitzel I've had in a long time...crispy on the outside, tenderinside. ???? And real good traditional red cabbage. Hubs said the fried chicken on the buffet was nice & crispy and he enjoyedall the other buffet offerings, including the buttermilk pie. A southern dessert that I've never seen on a restaurant menu!Cool! The other time he got catfish which came out hot & crispy...2 generous fillets. This is a good place to stop for comfortfood if you're traveling on I-10. Read more

We went here for lunch and it was what we expected. Decent food at a decent price. We opted to go off the menu rather than... the buffet. My Ruben was tasty with good flavor and my wife?s BLT was also good. Read more
Stopped here for a light lunch. They have a buffet that looks really good, food looked fresh and appetizing. Didn't try the... buffet but I would in the future. We tried some of the pies which we enjoyed. The cherry pie was topped with meringue which wasa nice addition and flavorful. The staff was extremely nice, helpful and efficient. This is a old school family type restaurantand it was very enjoyable to find a place like this. Read more
