Love having Chef Del Sroufe and Dr. Pam Popper of Forks Over Knives movie right here locally. A wealth of information and love... the services they provide! Read more
A little difficult to find the first time in the dark (it is behind the building visible from E Wilson Bridge). Awesome and... welcoming staff. I am newer to Yoga but both instructors helped me modify easily. Read more
The instructors are wonderfully helpful. I appreciated that they gave gentle pointed instruction to me during class as a... newcomer to yoga. It was very helpful for them to call me by name and give ideas to help correct my posture and poses to ensurethe best success. Everyone has been incredibly positive and encouraging. Very relaxing atmosphere. Hot! ; ) Read more
Honestly, I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews! Maybe those were old reviews? The staff was super friendly... and helpful at the front desk and went through tips and advice prior to the session. They also explained the importance ofsticking to scheduled water breaks and not leaving the room during the session to prevent overhydration/nausea and letting theheat out or distracting others. (Honestly I drank a bunch of water before and did not need that much water during thesession...I brought ice cold water and it upset my stomach, cool or room temp water would have been better.) This was my FIRSTbikram yoga session (I did the 90min session) and I went with a friend from work who is a regular there. The staff wassupportive and helped individually correct each person's poses to prevent injury or strain and they were super nice about ittoo. The room was heated to 105 F with 40% humidity. (I personally found this too much, but this was my first session and it wasvery new to me.) When I was too tired to complete poses the instructor noticed and encouraged me to sit quietly on my mat andfocus on breathing/heart rate and rest. I felt no intimidation and was free to be a newbie without being judged! I still wouldlike to warn others of the strange feeling of being in a hot room for 90 minutes-if you've never done bikram yoga before, goslow and focus on breathing and heart rate! I went too fast during the first half of the session and was exhausted and my heartrate too elevated to continue the second half. It was hard not to feel a bit panicky with all the heat, but after the sessionwas over, I felt amazing! My sore joints/muscles felt great and I felt refreshed and cleansed. Definitely will be backsoon. Overall, friendly staff, clean studio, mixed levels of beginners/experienced people and the yoga instructors very helpfuland kind to newbies! Price was good too $15 for a 90 min yoga session. Read more
Smelled like cats. Instructor called newbies out by name (barked really) if they weren't holding poses correctly. Sold me ice... cold water to take into a highly heated session which just about caused me to pass out on our first water break. When I decidedI'd had enough (about half hr. in) I went for one last drink & the instructor told me to wait until a stopping point beforedrinking any water. I could have been on the verge of a medical emergency. Hate giving negative reviews but if you're lookingfor a relaxing yoga experience you won't find it here. The instructor I had was more akin to the trainers on Biggest Loser. Somepeople want/need that. Wasn't what I was expecting. Also, I don't know why Goggle is reporting a 3.3 average rating. Icalculated the average (14 stars given by 6 reviewers) to be 2.3. Might not have bought the Groupon had I seen it had a ratingof 2.6 at the time of my purchase. Read more
I have not been to other yoga studios, so please forgive if I cannot lead you to a comparison. The instructors pretty much know... what you should be doing if it is your first time at hot yoga. They are qualified to take you through the mental and physicalexercise. The studio is decent and a quite large for the audience that practices yoga in there. Every one there is honest totheir profession and make a sincere effort to ensure you benefit from the yoga session. That is what I usually look for. I am nopro at it... but I am excited to make a progress. Read more
This was the worst experience I have ever had in the 10 years I've been practicing Yoga. I was attracted to the studio based on... the heat they offered. The Yoga room had a strange smell; probably because of the stained, dirty carpet in the Yoga room. Thestaff was not welcoming which is very unusual for a Yoga studio; I almost felt as though I was an interruption being there. Whatreally made it the worst experience was the owner Dr. Pam. Her negative energy was distracting and unnerving. She spent theclass not practicing on her own mat or assisting teacher; but "directing" the instructor with dirtly looks and nods of her chinas to what students needed some adjustment. This kind of behavior from an owner??? Get rid of the bacteria infested carpet;there are many sanitary options for a fitness room. Not sure how you would solve the issue that the owner has no business in thestudio with students and she obviously scares the crap out of her instructors not allowing them to grow the practice of theirstudents. Yoga instructor was on some documentary I watched on Netflix, she barked orders throughout the class, was mean spirited and not... at all what I expected. Don't really support people who are condescending and critical of their student/clients. Read more
