It breaks my heart that Tommy?s has forgotten what is important-good pizza and customer service. We were in Columbus for a game... (we now live in Texas) and wanted our usual tasty Tommy?s pepperoni. I won?t go into what it took to finally get one (from theDublin store) as the west Lane Ave location was a disaster. We were treated poorly by a rude person at the counter and thenbasically kicked out by a security/police officer when we wanted a few minutes to talk about ordering a pizza in person. Just sosad. I'm really sad to write this review. I've eaten at Tommy's for over 20 years and it is still the best pizza in the Columbus... area. However, they've outsourced their menu and delivery services to third parties. If you click "order online" it isn'tTommy's, it's DoorDash and not immediately apparent. If your order gets messed up and you call Tommy's, they tell you to take itup with DoorDash, and DoorDash is going to take at least an hour to fix it - meanwhile your food is cold or you aren't eatingdinner until 9 PM. Tommy's is out of the picture and unwilling to help. In the last 4-5 orders I've done online, only one hasbeen successfully executed without some sort of error. Also, they are hit-and-miss with making their awesome subs available.Tonight I just decided to drive down to the store and order subs directly becasue we all wanted subs from Tommy's. They are thebest, and nobody makes them like Tommy's. I walk into the store to see a skeleton crew. It's been this way since COVID. Butnow, with all the restrictions lifted, they seem to be sticking with running the restaurant as solely a pizza factory. The onlypeople coming in the door are DoorDash drivers. I wait for 5 minutes before anyone acknowledges me at all, and when I finallywalk up and state that I'd like to order some subs and I have no problem waiting, they tell me they aren't making subs tonight. I ask when they are making subs, and she states that they make them during the week but not tonight. Tommy's needs to embracethe 20th century and get a real online ordering system and be consistent for their customers. The only reason they are gettingaway with this current model is because they have multi-generational loyal customers and great food, but that won't last if theykeep operating this way. Waited 5 min before being asked if we wanted a table. Then told 20 min wait which is fine. Well we ordered to go still 20 min... wait came in to get order and saw several tables available and no one on the list so we asked if we could sit. Ordered online around 5:15. As I placed the order, it said 50-60 min. No biggie. Got a text after placing the order and it said... 85 min. Again, no biggie. Went to pick up pizza and was constantly told they were understaffed due to call-offs, or it would be15-20 more minutes. Except it ended up being another 45 minutes. While at restaurant waiting heard them say they take ordersonline, over the phone, Door Dash, and Grubhub. This place doesn?t need the extras. Columbus has no shortage of incredible pizza places, and each one seems to have amazing similarities and unique differences.... Tommy's is an old legendary favorite that shares the amazing cheese with a stretchy bite, pockets of bubbles of delicious,chewy, pillowy dough and tangy sauce, with other amazing pizza parlors. Where Tommy's really earns a place in my memory is thecrust, chewy on top but so crispy, buttery and flaky on the bottom with just subtle hints of char. I don't get back to Ohio muchand haven't had a Tommy's Pizza in almost 30 years. Decided on our trip to share this place with my daughter. All the taste andmemories came back and she was very impressed by the flavors and textures. Great place for a good pie. Read more
