Reviews for Service Bar in Columbus, OH
The cocktails and appetizer we had were very good, as was the service. All was great until we got the check and realized I was... charged $3 for an ice cube in my glass of whiskey. For that reason we won’t be back. Read more
If you've dined at Service Bar before the renovation, you will likely be disappointed when returning. I didnt care for the $15... Something Blue cocktail I ordered and I really didnt care for both the pork tenderloin or the venison, allegedly the best itemson the menu. The pork was overly sweet with apple and the orange sauce on the venison just didnt pair in my opinion. Theportions were very small for the price. Our server also wasnt great. I had to ask about the menu and recommendations. Since Ididnt enjoy my cocktail, I planned to order a Chocolate Martini after dinner. Instead, my plate was cleared and the checkdelivered without even asking if we wanted anything else. This is a want to be fine dining experience in my opinion. I miss theold executive chef and will track him down at his new establishment. Read more
Disappointing. Our appetizers and entrees were really bland. The renovations are nice and the cocktails were ok. The previous... SB’s food was incredible, but none of those classic dishes were on the menu. Seems like a totally different restaurant. Alsothe only restaurant I’ve ever been to where I’ve heard “The chef prefers a full order,” meaning we couldn’t order appsand mains at leisure. Pretentious nonsense. Read more
If you are expecting an experience similar to pre-COVID, keep your expectations low so you aren’t disappointed. The cocktail... list wasn’t very inspiring, though the Turf Club was a favorite from the list. In the realm of food, everything ordered wasjust “fine” from the Nudi to the Risotto to the Halibut, with the Beets and Burrata being the best of the four. No dessertmenu either. I have many other places try before considering post-COVID Service Bar again, especially for the price. Read more
Disappointing relaunch. Very brief menu, the only vegetarian entrée is a mushroom rissotto, which was fine for what it was but... absolutley not something i would have ordered if there was a more creative non-meat option. I did try the beet salad as astarter and really enjoyed that dish though. My friend tried one of the seafood entrees and enjoyed it as well. I was not thehappiest with learning they don’t offer any desserts? I wasn’t expecting a whole list of house baked items considering theshort dinner menu, but seems weird there’s not like an ice cream or plain cheesecake at least. Alternatively I think it wouldbe nice to offer a list of like amaros or desert wines if no sweets are available but it is what it is. Overall I just don’tthink it was worth the pricepoint compared to other nicer options in the neighborhood, it doesn’t stack up to what the menu orservice was like pre-covid but I would be open to going back if I knew they developed some more stuff. We had an excellent meal and drinks at the beautiful bar. The pork cheek gnocchi is insanely good. It was one of the best bites... of food I've had in recent memory. There was a perfect amount of heat as well as beautiful warming spices, and the cheek was sotender it fell apart when you touch it with the fork. The Rachel was also very good, and the kimchi played well with the otherbig flavors on the sandwich, while leaving a lingering heat that was very pleasant against the very savory smoked meat. Whilethe communal seating may not be ideal for some, I think it is nice to be able to see and share the dining experience with thosearound you, and discuss the very inventive food and beverage. This place is definitely worth the price, and we will be back formore. Read more
I had a fantastic dinner with my wife tonight at Service Bar, in celebration of our eighth wedding anniversary. Our server,... Andy, was excellent and proved invaluable in helping us decide, since there were several vegan options available on the menu. Our cocktails and appetizers came out very fast, and were incredible - the wonton and brassica dishes both featured beautifulplating and intense flavors, complimenting the 'Blood Sugar Magic' and 'Rosé Petal' beverages selected for our first round. Formain courses we chose the Black Pepper Seitan and Panang Curry, which again arrived at the perfect moment and continued the mealwithout making us feel rushed. A second round of cocktails followed, with a 'Courtlandia' for me, and my wife selecting'Rosemary's Daisy'. Dessert arrived again at seemingly the precise time it was meant to; a vegan 'Buckeye' that mystified oursenses with its chocolate-peanut-maple flavors and textures leaving us dazzled. 10/10, would dine at Service Bar again.Slightly pricey if you take a tour of the entire menu like we did, but absolutely worth the experience!
