Hi there, To whom ever is reading this if you are missing that home cooked meal feeling. Then I recommend you try this amazing... drive in joint. You just drive right up and park in an available parking spot, and someone will come up to your car window toget your order, while waiting patiently there is a sign on the front roof of the build you can read to figure out what you wouldlike to try. They have great service and excellent freshly cooked home food right to your car window. Just know they only takecash or check, because they are a family owed hometown business. I live on the other side of Fort Wayne and was driving through on US Highway 30 from the lake area. But I detoured and pulled... in to CJ's on a whim, and ordered two Coney dogs, onion rings and a root beer. Asked for them to go but explained I simplydidn't want a tray hanging off my window. My server was a smiling gal with dark hair and a positive vibe about her, and sheunderstood. My order was delivered, my change returned and I offered her my tip. We discussed the meal and discovered we hadsome things in common. It was a pleasant conversation. I ate my meal slowly in the car, she checked with me twice to ensure Ihad all I wished, and when I finished she took away my bag and meal items to be put in the trash. And all with an easy-goingserver who made my spur-of-the-moment dinner the happy memory like those I have had in the past at this restaurant. This placeis a wonderfully special eatery in Columbia City. As a child, we came for the frosty mugs of root beer floats. My family and Icould walk there from Grandma Bowie's house. On occasion, we would pick up boxes of dogs and jugs of root beer for a summerfeast on the porch. And our sweet Grandma didn't have to cook in her hot kitchen for a crowd that day. Happy sunny days andjoyful memories still can be found on the menu. Along with tasty treats for body and soul. Because this place is only open forthe warm summer season, I couldn't pass up a trip to CJ's for a last taste of summer goodness with a hometown welcome. Read more
