We were a little upset when we tried to order shakes and they didn't have any icecream. Then when we tried to order tater tots... they didn't have those either. I was heading home from OBX, and wanted a quick meal that wasn't the same old ordinary...found Hwy 55 on Google maps, and... figured I'd give it a try. This place looks so innocuous and rather bland from outside, but the inside is an explosion of 50sera diner nostalgia! I missed the decade by about 25 years, but there was a great vintage feel...the staff was quick andefficient; the cashier lady was helpful and friendly. I ordered a Shrimp Burger, a Pimento Bacon Burger, and onion rings...thefood came quickly (but not in a "been under the heatlamp for an hour" way), and it was perfectly cooked; delicious andfilling! They have a pretty large menu, and the flatop grill and fryers are right behind the counter, in view of thecustomers. While it is well lit and looked pretty clean, it does appear to be an older building, in need of some renovations;but overall I enjoyed my experience, and will likely return next time I'm in the area. Shrimp poboy was huge and full of shrimp. Great taste and fair price for the amount of food. Servers were friendly. Wife said... the 6 piece was more than enough to split and taste good. Clean enough for our liking. Water taste strange. Read more

The hamburgers, fries and shake were fine and service was okay, but they have an air conditioning condensation problem. Water... was dripping from the vents overhead and the ceiling was water stained. This condition has been around for some time. Also,cleanliness was suspect. Condensation is probably not a problem during the heating season. Read more

Stopped here on a whim and glad we did. They were out of so many things it was almost comical but what they did have was very... good especially the chicken cheese steak, the best my husband said he had ever had!! The pimento cheese and orange aid was verygood and although the hot dog looked dehydrated, it was really tasty. We will definitely be back???????? Read more
We went there again tonight (12/6) and got awesome food, bacon cheeseburger, fries and one of the best chocolate shakes in this... part of NC. However our last visit couple months ago was disappointing, I think it mainly depends on who is working. Today wasdelicious and exactly what you would expect from a burger place.
