Reviews for Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar - Colorado Springs in Colorado Springs, CO
Jax Fish House is the best seafood restaurant I have tried in Colorado Springs. For an appetizer I ordered the calamari, which... was cooked perfectly and not over fried. I also added a seafood towers to accompany the calamari that was very tasty, fresh androbust. The entrees are ordered were the gumbo and a lobster roll. All the seafood was extremely fresh and very flavorful. Ihighly recommend this seafood restaurant. Read more
Great place for happy hour! All the fish was very fresh. We ate the fried calamari with this amazing sauce, a crab cake, and... gumbo fries! They do have a happy hour menu, so we tried a couple of items. Drinks were very good. The lavender gin martini wasdelicious! The key lime tart was definitely worth ordering. They were freshly schucking oysters, but that's not my thing but Iam always amazed with the work they put in to those. Oh and they have the most beautiful fish tank. Definitely check this placeout! Server did a good job! Read more
The most amazing oysters. Love the atmosphere. Great servers. Highly recommend! And I just edited this because I remembered our... first visit's server was Emily, and she has to be the most amazing one there I'd feel safe saying already. Read more
It was a bit of a hit or miss. Some things were really delicious, but others were really bad. We started with mussels and shrimp... - which were phenomenal. We also had the grilled oysters which were just ok. The hush puppies should be considered donuts. Theyhave a tiny bit of sweet dusting on them and they were addicting and perfectly fried. The catfish was also perfectly cooked andseasoned. I thought the collards were a bit sweet but still cooked great. The worst dish was the gumbo. It was borderlineinedible. It was so so incredibly salty, both of us could not eat it. They gave us one slice of bread for it and that was theonly thing we could kind of use to dilute it and have a bite or two. It was incredibly earthy and not quite like gumbo we'veever had before. I was tempted to dump some of my water in it to make it less salty.. Or maybe if we had some rice to put thegumbo on - I just hate wasting food but we ended up taking a few bites and leaving it. The chowder came with a bunch of seafoodin it, which was nice, but ultimately threw us off because it tasted like queso and was just too much cheese. The service we hadwas also really odd. The server was exceptionally slow and we were constantly waiting for her. She seemed uninterested ineverything and was kind of unwelcoming in general. She did describe the gumbo as salty when we asked about it - which isactually a plus that she was honest to us. We thought she meant savory/flavorful. Too bad we didn't listen. Read more

Amazing food and drinks! We didn’t have reservations, so they quickly sat us at the bar and the bartenders were very friendly... and eager to converse and assist us. Neat atmosphere with good music. Definitely recommend going for happy hour (before 5) forpeel and eat shrimp and great hush puppies. Also, the Jax Strawberry Margarita was delicious with the chargrilled oysters. Read more
