This is the second time we were at Dakota Vines Vinyard. We live in the fargo area, so it was a easy drive from fargo. My wife... was on a mission. The last time we were there we had a couple of wine flights. We had bought a few bottles to bring home, anduntil we had a neighbor over, we hadn't had tried summer shade black current wine we had purchased. Both she and the neighborboth loved the wine. So guess what we bought today. Today we decide as long as we were there we'd try some other wines. Becauseshe really wanted to buy 5 bottles of the black current wine and they offered a 10 % discount if you bought 6 bottles. Sheallowed me to pick the 6th bottle.????I like a drier wine so I picked the Badlands, red blend. It's still has a fruity flavor,with retaining the dry flavor I favor. If you want to take a trip out of town(40 minutes from Fargo). And want to enjoy somelocal wines, I recommend a visit to Dakota Vines. Besides the wine they have a horsdourve menu, and make a pretty decent pizzafrom scratch. They also have a couple outside seating options. Since they are next to a river, and in a nicely wooded area, itwas a good place to sip wine and visit . Great day trip! Read more
The only thing in the entire world that could?ve made this experience better was if Robert Irvine was sitting at the table with... me looking at how great this place is. Warm and inviting staff, amazing wine, great seating. We didn?t try the food this time ?but we will definitely grab a pizza next time we swing in. Not only was the wine delicious but the owners and staff were exceptionally friendly. We had such a nice time stopping by this... winery. We highly recommend this winery if you're in the area. And as a bonus they sold pizza. There was a customer that came infor her takeout pizza while we were there. We're figuring that if someone stop by just for takeout pizza it must be pretty goodpizza, although we did not order pizza while we were there. They also had cheese trays if you were so inclined. We stayed as a Harvest Host guest with our travel trailer. We were able to easily park and had shade in afternoon. This is a... nice location and close to interstate. Bob and Deb and family were very nice. We had a great pizza for supper and wouldrecommend a visit for wine, food, or just to get out to country. Read more
Dakota Vines is just outside of Fargo's city limits, so it's easy to reach by car. I'd say the wine is up there as some of the... best in the region (and state!) as well. When you think North Dakota you probably don't think of wine, but you should. Thewinery is beautiful. It's in the countryside, so it's quiet, and the building is gorgeous inside. They display local art on thewalls, have a cozy fireplace, and the owners are friendly and helpful. They use grape varieties that do well in the cold NDclimate, so what they have is local and very good. Read more
