Service was super - all the way from server coming out as we were contemplating menu outside - to friendly composure throughout... out stay. Food was good, not great. I had Brie and ham on panini, Lyndsey had salad with chicken added. All good but thechicken which was unseasoned and cold from fridge. Decent value and pleasant meal on Cobourg's main street. I have been here a few times now and each time the food was really good and our server was quick and friendly. The atmosphere is... upbeat and I enjoyed the patio in the warm weather. Prices were reasonable. I will go again. Read more

A new deli that opened in Cobourg recently. We shared a smoke meat sandwich and one of us had the cream of mushroom and parm... soup. The sandwich came with just coleslaw and was all that was needed at the reasonable price point of $10-$14. In addition wefound the shared plate was the perfect size for two people, with a local craft beer for each of us. Next is more of a commentthan a critique. With the number of both local craft and a couple of "commercial" beers available on the menu (12-15 in total ifI recall) it might be an idea to add ABV%, IBU and style to the beer description. For example I know that I like a 5-6% Stoutwhile my wife likes a 60-80 IBU IPA. Saves a lot of questions for the servers. Read more

My wife and I dropped in on the King St. Deli & Bar's grand opening for a late lunch. The experience was disappointing. The menu... is limited, as is their selection of beers (11 craft beer is the only offering). If you are looking for variety the King St.Deli & Bar is to be avoided. Besides offering a limited food/beverage selection, the quality of the food is just slightly abovebeing passable. I ordered the "Montreal Smoke Meat Sandwich." Having grown up in Montreal, I know real Montreal smoke meat andmentioned this to our waitress. She assured me their smoke meat was authentic Montreal smoke meat... she was wrong! The King St.Deli & Bar should either take their "Montreal Smoke Meat Sandwich" off their menu, or at least remove the word"Montreal." Unless the King St. Bar & Deli get their act together fast they will evaporate as so many other eateries havebefore in Cobourg, leaving the the town's restaurant landscape to continue to be served by The Matterhorn Restaurant, Oasis Bar& Grill, The Dutch Oven and The Buttermilk Café, which offer a decent size menu (food and drinks) at reasonable prices, coupledwith excellent service resulting in value for your money. Given the stiff competition the King St. Deli & Bar faces I amsurprised this establishment is run more like a hobby than a serious business venture. Read more
