Whilst passing through Des Moines, The Other Place happened to be a convenient stop for a Sunday afternoon meal. It happened to... be a Sunday when the KC Chiefs were playing and the place was hopping ? which means LOUD. Fortunately we got seated in asemi-quiet alcove and we still enjoyed our meal in spite of the noise. We ordered a couple beers. If you are into darkerbeers, this isn?t the place to go, I ended up trying a canned stout that was OK. We ordered a Buffalo Chicken pizza whicharrived in good time and reasonably hot. The ?problem? is I don?t know what I think of their crust. It?s definitely not thincrust, and not deep dish, and not cracker. The dough tasted salt-less, and I?m thinking there isn?t any oil of any sort in thedough as it bakes to taste like a fluffy center, cracker bottom piece of Matzoh. Strange, and I?ve had all sorts of great,mediocre and bad pizzas ? this is the first time for anything of the kind. There was plenty of cheese and a good helping ofchicken, along with buffalo sauce, making it basically a ?white? pizza. It was good, if different, but I doubt I would returnagain if we were locals. Chill atmosphere. The chip & dip trio was a great appetizer, all 3 dips (salsa, queso & spinach) were full of flavor. The food... came out in a decent time but it took a while for our waiter to check in & had to be found after waiting for over 20 min to askfor our check. Give our waiter some credit that it got busy and he seemed to have a lot of tables! So I can't say if that'snormal. My husband had the taco pizza that was a special and greatly enjoyed it. I've fallen in love with The Other Place. They have a great staff, really good pizza & wings, the set up is great for those who... want to either dine in or sit at the bar, plus they have a patio! Plenty of TVs showing most if not all current sports games.Their music selection is also awesome! Read more

Had the buffalo chicken salad and roasted turkey avocado sandwich. Sandwich was massive and had great flavor. The salads buffalo... chicken was really good but was odd flavor paired with the salad.
