Ventured out towards Sanderson today to try a new restaurant with a unique business model. Pay what you think it?s worth. (Which... was a lot in our opinion ????) The Trail Kitchen is a wonderful little gem in the middle of nowhere out past Queen Shoals. Letme start with they make the largest (pics don?t do then justice) and most delicious sandwiches I?ve ever had. Bread baked dailyin-house, and fresh sliced meats and cheese make this place worth the trek into the boonies. These sandwiches where every bit of16? and weighed a ton. They where loaded down, and delicious. The cheese fries are fresh cut and super cheesey. The staff wasfriendly, and the service fairly quick. We got to meet the owners Jeanie and Scott. Really nice people, who have bighearts. It?s a 45 min drive for us, but we already can?t wait to go back. Perfect way to end a Sunday afternoon. I do suggestcalling ahead as they sometimes sell out on Sundays. Read more

The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is amazing and the location is perfect, it?s gives that extralittle touch of happiness! At any given moment you can see deer and as we were leaving last weekend we did see one! We haverecommended The Trail Kitchen to our family and friends! Our favorite is the deep fried taco and chips. Huge portion sizes, friendly service, and good food. The tail to get there is a bit intense, but worth it. If my little car made... it, I'd imagine any car could. Read more

We made the journey to Trail Kitchen today, and my oh my was it worth it! The servings are enormous! Kim and I got a full hot... ham and cheese, cheese fries and drinks. The owners gave me a plate of Asian noodles to try also. First the sandwich. Did Imention it was enormous? Homemade sub bun, ham, cheese with whatever type cheese and topping you want. The fries were thick cutwith melted cheddar cheese smothering them. The Asian noodles were tender with just enough heat and awesome flavor. The placeis out in the country for sure. But we?ll worth the trip and the owners are practicing a different business model. No prices onthe menu. You pay what you think you should for the meal. The model is this: you eat for free if you have no money. You pay whatyou think your food was worth or you pay it forward by giving extra to help someone else out. Look them up on Facebook and readall about the model and why they chose it. The Trail Kitchen 1194 Cold Springs Rd Clendenin, WV 25045 Read more
