Reviews for Christoval WINERY in Christoval, TX
I?ve actually never written a review before. The wine here is ALRIGHT, Overall it was the most rude service I?ve ever had and... I?m from NY. The first time my husband and I came here, the owners granddaughter told us it was kid friendly. We were veryexcited to come back with our kids, and another couple with their kids. The entire time they harassed us about our kids, theywere extremely rude about it. Our kids were playing outside they told us they didn?t want them picking up their rocks? they cameout another time to tell us it looked like our kids were picking up their rocks (which they were not) We went inside so the kidscould sit on the couch, which they did. Then they came over and told us our kids were being too loud and we needed to leave. Iunderstand not all places are kid friendly, but don?t say you are and then harass someone. I would never go back even withoutthe kids because of how rude the girls were that worked there, but if you plan on bringing your kids i advice not to?. Read more
Responding as I just saw the response to another review about a baby shower. I was the subject of said shower and the owner has... responded to a review left by my mother. Her response is a joke. I didn?t even organize the event but seeing as how I don?t evenhave 40 people on the original list I gave of invitees (yes, still have it saved on my computer), it?s a lie that 40 peopleversus 20-25 showed up. She also yelled to the point that her staff was embarrassed and apologized profusely when she left thearea. This was supposed to be a joyous occasion. Sorry that her rules were not communicated to a select few people ahead of timeand they ACCIDENTALLY showed up 30 minutes early to set up, ACCIDENTALLY parked in the wrong area, and apologized when she threwa fit. It was genuinely shocking?this is just not how you treat paying guests who are more than willing to comply with the rulesonce corrected. To be upset with the organizer is one thing, to yell at guests showing up to lend a helping hand is another. Andwith that, my sweet MIL apologized for not relaying the rules to everyone else. She apologized for things she didn?t need tosimply to placate an owner that was red in the face. I don?t typically leave anything but positive reviews. I?m passive, not thetype of person ever send my food back even when it?s wrong, and I love to support local businesses. But this was the mostunprofessional venue host I?ve ever had the misfortune to encounter. Next time someone makes a mistake and offers to fix it orcomply with the rules, show a little grace. Or don?t. But the gall to then wonder why my MIL no longer wanted a winesubscription tells me this owner is completely out of touch. Read more
Always fun, must try the Almond Sparkling Wine. That was a new treat for us. Very friendly staff, great wine and lots of fun
Beautiful grounds and tasting room. Would recommend joining the wine club. Quality wines and fun events.
The good: Right off the highway and easy to get to, plenty of parking as you enter by the chapel. The lane past the tasting room... is private. Tasting room is a pretty building with indoor and outdoor seating and clean bathrooms. The view is lovely, theground are nice. The staff was really nice, professional, and answered our questions. The bad: Wine tastings were served in tinyplastic stemmed glasses, an amateur move that we've never experienced at any other winery. The cab was the only palatable wine, but I wouldn't recommend it to my friends. We also ordered lunch. Both the meatballs and pizza tasted as if they started outfrozen; not much better than fast food. We've visited wineries all over the state (and the country), and had high expectationsdue to the reviews, but this was a real disappointment. The flavor of wine is best enjoyed in real glass, and if they're tryingto keep costs down, good cheese, grapes, nuts, and crackers, would work fine. Read more
I attended a baby shower at this venue over the weekend and while the grounds are beautiful and setting lovely, the host ruined... the entire experience for our party. I have never felt more unwelcome to a venue in my life for absolutely no reason. Sheliterally SCREAMED and freaked out over a balloon installation that she PERSONALLY had okayed prior to baby shower. So half waythrough the installation they had to take it all back down. There was no helium used and no strings used as per the policy. She was yelling in front of all the guests and we simply couldn't believe her behavior...SOOOO unprofessional. She then refusedto make the rest of the food that was ordered, so our party didn't all get to eat. I felt SO sorry for the staff...they wereapologizing for her behavior and said they have to deal with this often. AVOID THIS VENUE AT ALL COST. Go somewhere else and beappreciated for your business. FYI...this was not an unreasonable or rowdy crowd of people. Just your regular folk trying tocelebrate a family baby. Geez! Read more
