Reviews for Rancho de Chimayó in Chimayo, NM
Incredible New Mexican cuisine. Historic location and building, with a unique atmosphere. Prices are reasonable, service... excellent and always crowded. Reservations are highly recommended. Read more
Request garden room seating. Staff is amazing and the food is quite good. They have a nice little gift shop as well. Be sure to... stop by Sanctuary de Chimayo for an added plus. Read more
Rancho de Chimayo relies on its past reputation. We had an amazing lunch experience 38 years ago and hoped for a unique... experience once again. This restaurant has tripled in size and it?s quality has dropped consistently. The beautiful outdoordining experience is gone. Instead expect tired paint, rusty chairs and tables and dreadful plastic tablecloths. The margaritadrink menu consists of mediocre tequila with margarita mix (despite the menu descriptions) in plastic cups. The food is massproduced, poorly cooked, and the service is slow and the waiters overworked. The reception is abrupt, again perhaps overworked -a distinctive contrast to the positive and attentive service and receptionist experience at EVERY other restaurant weexperienced in Santa Fe for the past week. Reception is always where the tone is set for the dining experience. I assume theownership has totally changed at Rancho de Chimayo over the past years. Read more
The service was outstanding! This is a true hidden gem. Amazing dishes with tasty flare. Authentic and delicious. The best in... chimayo and surrounding areas. The best place we had the pleasure to dine in.we will be back! Read more
This was a nice place. Service was excellent. The tortilla soup was too salty and the shredded beef could use some salt. But the... queso, guacamole, and green chili sauce were excellent. We even bought a couple of jars to bring home. Even with the saltissues, I'd recommend this place. Read more
This is a real tourist trap, I wanted to like it but meh. The positives were the jalapeño poppers and the combination picante... was good value for the price. Negatives plastic table cover and plastic cutlery cheapens the ambience, give people propersilverware. I would avoid the trout with almond and stick to Mexican food. The trout had soggy skin and the flavor combinationswasn?t hitting any home runs for me. It wasn?t completely terrible but I would not return nor recommend a trip out of your way. Read more
This place was quite busy when we arrived, but we were able to spend the ~15 minute wait looking around at the gift shop and in... the nice front garden area. The hostess let us know that reservations are recommended as they sometimes stop taking walk insnear closing. Once we were seated our waiter was very warm and attentive, and our food came out so quickly that I almost hadn'tdecided what drink to order yet. The food was great, but we definitely went overboard ordering the app trio and each getting acombo platter... I hope we have time om this trip to go back so that I can try some chocolate mousse! You literally can?t go wrong with this restaurant. James Beard award winning, prompt service (once you get a table?make... reservations and sometimes they run behind on getting you your table), great prices, excellent margaritas. I?ve had many thingsfrom their menu: Flautas, chile relleno, aguacate relleno, burritos and all are very good. Plus they have a cute gift shop inwhich they sell some of their dried heirloom red chile. Read more
