We were so anticipating sitting outside under the lights and enjoying the ambiance. Get a reservation with Resy. Everything... Up-Island is BYOB so first off this is not a genuine tavern. We knew there is a cork fee used to be $12 increased to $14 ...butseriously $5 to rent one of your frosted beer glasses for BYOB?! Bread to start is a $6.00 add on. We had already waited 45minutes past our reservation time to be seated and had starving kiddos so we ordered one for them- bread for a fee was not even tasty or warm. Children are welcome but they have no children's menu. There are no specials, a small menu, and definitelyexperienced attitude by server & management after inquiring about changes to what used to be a family favorite restaurant. Themenu was not as enticing as years past and to be honest the food and small portions were not worth the prices. The Mac andcheese has three forkfuls! C. Tavern also automatically adds a 25% gratuity on every party of 5 + check and a 5% kitchenappreciation fee which leads to service slipping significantly. A gorgeous restaurant with delicious food. The mussels came in a broth similar to the broth of clam chowder, the best I’ve... ever had. Halibut fish and chips was made to perfection. BYOB, but I like that they have three different house wines for anyonewho forgets their libations. Read more
Food & atmosphere were good, but we were a party of 6, so because of the automatic gratuity we felt like we weren’t being... taken care of. After dropping off our entrées, our waitress never came back to check on us. My friend’s steak was overcookedand there was no way to let the server know because again, she never came back. We noticed her with other tables (with lesspeople), after we cashed out, and she was attentive and was offering cracked pepper for salads, something we didn’t receive.We just felt as though the service was not up to par with the rest of the restaurant because of the automatic gratuity. Our family had an absolutely amazing experience and a wonderful first meal out on Island last week. We were eager to goto some... new restauraunts and we will most definetly be back! They are BYOB and do a fantastic job at it!!! We brought bourbon and wineto drink while dining. We tried the following: Apps: - Calamari App - Onion rings - Sourdough w/ scape butter (to diefor) Entrees: - Vegetarian curry * 3 people - Fish and Chips - Tuna entree over green beans (SO FRESH) - Wagyu steak andlobster Mac n cheesy All were cooked to perfection. The entry was pleasant enough and the seating. The food came quickly and at appropriate times. Though our server wasn't curt, he... wasn't friendly either. It appeared we were the last reservation of the evening at 8pm, and I recognize the season is almostover but if I'm paying $67 dollars for a steak I prefer it be seasoned. That house butter though.
