First time trying African food everything was amazing. I’m a truck drive passing thru from California. I will most definitely... be back. Food was so flavorful it was missing nothing. I’m a very picky eater. Read more

Absolutely delicious. Authentic west African food. The flavors were on point. I grabbed the salmon pattys (a MUST GET) the... Yassa chicken (like jerk chicken but different with sautéed onions) and the Yassa Tilapia (that one was just okay. Might’vebeen better with red snapper as the flavor didn’t penetrate the tilapia well) the jollof rice was bomb too. Can’t wait toreturn. Also got the ginger drink which was spicy but refreshing. I’m only giving 3 stars because the food was decent but not good enough to makeup for the terrible service. The service here... is beyond terrible and I will never come back. I guess everyone who knows knows to order to go. If it weren’t for the peoplewith me I would’ve walked out of there 20 minutes in. My jolof was old and salty the snapper was good but nothing special andthe nem was actually the best thing. My cousin’s lamb was ok but again not worth the wait and terrible service. Not only isthe wait long you receive no updates as to the status. The guy just keeps walking by with 5 thousand takeout orders. He finallybrings out our order and forgot several items. One would think the time it took them to actually get our orders it would’vebeen perfect! The food was ok, price ok but nothing worth waiting dam near an hour for. I’d rather go to Gorre in Hyde parkwith excellent food and service! The tables could be a lot cleaner too we cleaned ours before sitting down with disinfectingwipes I had in my purse. Also the guy had a hissy fit because my cousin wanted a silver to go container rather than a styrofoamone. It was beyond preposterous that the discourse even occurred like who cares this much about a container esp after waiting solong for our mediocre food! I also don’t appreciate the automatic gratuity it was 3 of us!! Again I will never come back tothe place the food was just not that good to have waited so long for it! Read more

Ordered on a whim from this restaurant for lunch - zero expectations, resulted in 100% satisfaction! Let's start with the... Fataya - Salmon Patties, basically - except there's NOTHING basic about them! The filling is SO flavorful and well seasoned andnot fishy at all. The outer pastry crust is so delicious, even on its own. Well done, Yassa folks! Then there was the YassaShrimp - beautifully cooked shrimp in a beautifully developed sauce with green peppers and onions. Again, the key to this beingsuch a successful dish is just how well seasoned the stew is! The onions and peppers add more depth of flavor, and are notover-cooked, just a bite to them. The plantain Fufu was the thing I was most skeptical about - and it turned out to be JUSTPERFECT!!!! And lastly the Couscous - when you first taste it, you think to yourself, it's just couscous - it's just a vesselfor the stew. But no, even eaten alone, this staple is so comforting and delicious! I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGGLY recommend this placeto everyone. I don't eat meat, I'm a pescatarian, but I'll be trying absolutely everything I damn near can from thisrestaurant!!!!! Read more
