Crazy good. I'm totally obsessed with the country fried steak, their sausage gravy is out of this world. Everything is always... cooked perfectly, dine in or delivery and it's amazing every time. The wait staff are very experienced, attentive, and friendly.Even though it's a diner near the South Loop, located in such a busy city, it feels homely and welcoming. This place has been open since 1939 which to me is like eating in a museum which I think is pretty cool. My wife and I flew into... Chicago on a red eye and was immediately greeted by the Chicago cold weather ???? so we decided to go out for coffee and a latenight bite. I ordered a Chicken Philly sandwich and my wife or ordered eggs & bacon with a side of French Toast. The food waspretty good and the customer service was ok. I'm originally from Chicago so I felt right at home but if it's your 1st timevisiting Chicago and the restaurant the other guests may come of vulgar which is pretty typical in that area. The fact thatthey stay open late is pretty cool. We'll probably return. Read more
I've been to the White Palace Grill twice so far. The place is my sudden favorite, known for their scrumptious food, fabulous... staff, particularly the waitresses and cooks. I so far have ordered my favorite dish, BLT and fries. The first time I came herethey offered me some unbelievable chicken soup with rice, along with BLT and fries. I know Chicago got the best restaurants allover the city, but I will be stopping at White Palace Grill to try more of their food! Read more
Yuck! Today was the worst meal Ive ever had from there. I guess the night shift is the worst shift to buy food. I dunno if they... thought maybe I was a delivery person w/ scrubs on or what. Asked me to verify my order. I had to order via grub hub because thenew younger girl said the don't take steak orders over the phone & they never did. Seeing as tho its the only thing I orderthere for the past 5 years I know she had to be new. Because I always phone in ahead. I asked for a medium well steak & its pastwell done. It dry & has fibers sticking out when its cut because its old. Its always been juicy & so tender I could use aplastic knife & fork not today and the garlic bread isn't crispy & fresh like its always been either. I damn near want my moneyback. good vibes, mediocre food. this 24 hour diner was a popular and ideal place for me and my friends to end a saturday night at... 3am. it being halloweekend, the line to enter was pretty long and we waited outside for ~30 minutes before gettingseated. inside, you will find an authentic diner experience— bright white lights, vintage furniture and decorations, friendlystaff, classic diner menu with diverse and expansive options. we ordered the appetizer platter (mozzarella sticks, jalapenopoppers, breaded mushrooms, onion rings) to share and i also had a tuna melt. i will say that for a late night meal withfriends when you’re tired and hungry, the food hit the spot: the portions were big—the tuna melt was open-faced due to themassive amount of tuna packed onto each slice of bread—and the mix of mayo and cheese, in addition to the fried appetizerswere the exact combo i needed at 3am. but eating and looking at the leftovers the next morning was not at all the sameexperience— the food presentation is not great and taste is pretty mediocre at best. the prices also felt steep for thequality. but overall, it’s still worth it for the vibes if you’re hungry, with good company, and looking for an authenticamerican diner experience.
