Reviews for Tortazo in Chicago, IL
Chill Sunday, stopped by to get a quick bite after visiting The Color Museum. I couple of us got the tortilla soup and another... got a salad. Our server was super nice, place was clean, and the soup was tasty. Not super crowded either. Read more
Surprisingly good lunch in the Willis Tower. I commented toy companion that I didn't expect to have such a great lunch, but... what else should I expect from Rock Bayless? I had the adobe chicken bowl which was really, really great for "mall food". Ialso has the chips and salsa; the Verde salsa is perfect. Read more
I am not a huge sandwich person, but this place exceeded my expectations. I have eaten here multiple times and have not had a... bad meal. The sandwiches I have tried are the crispy chicken milanesa, the Chipotle roasted chicken, and the cochinita pibil. All were great, but I will note that the Padilla broth did not add anything to the cochinita pibil, so I would not add that. Also the habanero salsa was extremely spicy (and I like spicy foods). Definitely very good food! Even the tortilla soup!
Rick Bayless Tortazo's might be why most people come, but I had the Corn Poblano Chowder and stated for second bowl it was so... good! The creamy and velvety soup was piping hot, textured and rich with flavor and perfectly spiced. Read more
It's a great lunch/drink spot inside Catalog, located in the formally known as Sears Tower building. I went during lunchtime and... had the Mojo Chicken quesadilla and the mango margarita! The margarita was tasty and the quesadilla was really good, both inflavor and portion size. Read more
I ordered the Chicken Milanese Torta. The sandwich is a nice size. However, it was not tasty. The cabbage on the sandwich was... good. The rest of the sandwich has room for improvement. Mostly the chicken. The chicken was NOT seasoned at all. I did read areview where a customer complained about the food being too salty, it seems they may have overcompensated. I'm accustomed toMexican food being rich in flavor so this didn't meet my expectations. I also ordered a churro. A churro this small should becheaper. At least $2 cheaper. Read more
Bruh? Can?t believe it?s 10 dollars for this 6 oz of guac. Food is ok but not worth the price and quantity. Tortas at Asadito... are easily 30% bigger, using actual torta bread, and are warm. I know Bayless likes to put his ?spin? on Mexican cuisine, butBaymore authentic next time and Bayless stingy. Won?t be coming back, buyers beware. Read more
