I had the good fortune to have dinner at La Cantina Italian Chophouse with a group of colleagues while in Chicago for a business... meeting. It was a great experience! We were given the choice of 3 entrees: eggplant parm, penne with a chicken cream sauce andlasagna. All delicious. The meals were served timely and efficiently to 20 guests. Choice of soup or Caesar or mixed green saladwas also offered. To finish off the meal, I had lemon sorbet and a decaffeinated cappuccino. All were very yummy. I wasespecially happy that gluten free pasta was available. Read more

After walking down a flight of stairs we entered a lovely atmosphere with brick and wood - neither too dark nor too light - and... were shown to a lovely table in back. The professional staff create the ambiance of a marvelous dining experience. Sadly, wedid not feel the quality of the food lived up to our expectations. Bread was brought to the table that was very crusty, Lukewarm, not well cut through so pulling it apart mangled the slices, no butter or oil, and cup of what we think was old Parmesancheese. The salads were reasonable but we were surprised by an extra charge for Caesar dressing. The rib eye steak wasunremarkable, perhaps more chewy than expected, but the sauce was fine. Chicken Rotolini had the promise of being good but, sadly, the chicken tasted like it had been frozen, overcooked and dry. The fettucine was tasty and had an excellent sauce. Wemay simply have been there on an off night, but I don't think I would be eager to return. Read more

As others have said, it does have a great ambiance. As you enter, you go down the stairs, and everything has a very Tuscan feel... to it, but on a smaller scale. The food was delicious!!! We did hafta wait quite a lil while after we placed our order, and thecalamari, though seasoned well, had been cooked too long and was more chewy than should be, almost rubbery, but that got takenoff. The lasagna was very good!! All in all, a pretty good experience. Read more

Great ambiance. Delicious crusty bread, light perfect calamari, salad with great house made italian, and yummy rum cake. I had... the eggplant parmesan and felt like it was missing some flavor - the marinara just seemed like tomato and I would have loved alittle more garlic and basil in the sauce. My husband's lobster risotto was very good. Amazing service. Read more

The server was very slow to show up at our table to take a drink order, and the place wasn't busy. Two men at the table behind... us were vaping and nothing was said until another diner complained, and the manager tried to deny that it was happening. Mypasta was so overcooked that it literally fell apart when I tried to take a forkful. The meatballs were mostly bread and tastedstale or old. Overall a waste of money. Read more

Amazing Italian food. Went there 2 nights in a row. Even during the rush they remembered us and gave us the same table and... server. Friendly authentic Italian atmosphere. Dimitri was a great server and Emilio in the bar was fantastic. I highlyrecommend and will look forward to going back!!! Read more
