Visited here last night for the first time - on a whim - with my guy. As you can see, for starters, the pretzel is TOP NOTCH.... Possibly the best pretzel I’ve had in the city next to Owen & Engine… but Red Lions is bigger. Second, the beer selection,Irish handshake deal, and the vibes of this place were unstoppable. Reminded me of my history professors old house filled withcommunist literature. Made friends with some mysterious cowboy dude at the bar before we left. 10/10 will be back!!!! Read more
This is an amazing pub. Food and drinks are great! Rarely do you find a pub that has good cocktails and good wine. Plus there... is an excellent selection of scotch and beer. The place is filled with books and historical memorabilia like a museum. And ifyou sit at the bar, you will always enjoy conversation with Colin the owner and the many friendly and intelligent customers whohang out there. Read more
The food, atmosphere, and people were exceptional. Very beautiful place. I had the bangers and mash and my daughter had the pub... burger and we split a dessert. It was delicious. I love British culture and this place was great. Will definitely be back nexttime I'm in Chicago. Read more

Walking into The Red Lion Pub is walking into an authentic British pub. Had a really nice afternoon eating snacking on pub food,... drinking Guinness, and socializing with others. I would absolutely recommend paying this place a visit, especially if you'reseeking a good Reuben sandwich or fish and chips. Note: FYI the lighting is dim, so if you're looking for a very brightrestaurant this is probably not the place. Read more
What a terrific night out with friends. Had not been to The Red Lion Pub since Thatcher reigned over the land (maybe... exaggerating, maybe). What a beautiful space. We sipped and dined in The Great War Room, fascinating. Apps and dinners were totop notch. Bangers and Mash, Shepard's Pie, and Fish & Chips enjoyed by all. Best pour of a Boddington's I have had on theseshores. Topping everything off was the most friendly staff you will find. Perfectly attentive and, get this, personalities! Iknow, hard to believe.
