Reviews for Tandoor Char House in Chicago, IL
Tiny restaurant. All our meat was quite overcooked and overall the food just wasn’t it. Bread was good and all sauces as well.... Waitress was nice, just not really having a system or too overwhelmed. I would consider this a pick up or delivery spot only. Iwouldn’t mind the little higher prices if the spot would be at least little nicer and smell good!!! I am sorry for the badreview, but I was really disappointed. Read more
For the best Indian halal food, head over here. They do grill platters and fusion food so well. I loved the ceviche on papad and... the fish platter. Tandoori heaven! And lots of veggie options too. Mango cheesecake is to die for. Remember it’s BYOB! Go herenow! Read more
The food is delicious! I like this place, they have big sizes, the food taste fresh. The waitress is nice and helpful. You can... bring alcohol if you want ($5 fee) and you can even bring a cake. I think it’s one of the best Indian restaurants in the city. Read more
This a long one so please read on. I'll start with the good The service was great The portion sizes are large The cook on the... steak was accurate All in all The food was okay at best. (5/10) On to the bad Honestly the steak at char house was the tastiestthing on the table. But that isn't saying a lot. The meat of the ribeye was choice grade at best but they did get the cookcorrect so plus points there. I do see now why there aren't prices on the menu that the qr code takes you to because it reallyisn't worth it. There was a lack of seasoning which makes me think that the kitchen was afraid of using any. Almost all the foodwe had was nowhere near how it was described on the menu. This is one of those places that has the same base for all theircurries. The food We started off the experience with stale Papadum which is an Indian crisp and a side of chutneys which tastedwatered down. The chutneys lacked any prominent flavors and they tasted the same if you ate them with your eyes closed, the onlything that set them apart was their color. The achar was definitely not made in house but store bought it actually tasted massproduced. TLDR- the amount of food you get is good but the quality is trash. If you're looking for flavorful food give thisplace a hard pass. Especially given how expensive it is. It seems like they are afraid of using spices and seasoning. Theapps The wings (7/10) - full wings. only 3 pieces tho (technically 6, 3-flats 3-drums) small but the sauce was good butdefinitely not worth $9. The ceviche (2/10)- it lacked flavor and it really should not be served on a crisp. All the moisturewas absorbed by the crisp and what was left was a very dry pile of shrimp and fish. There was no seasoning at all. The seasonedmasala fries. - (8/10) seasoned fries which is the most seasoning we experienced the entire night. On to the entree's TheRibeye steak (7/10)- the steaks lacked seasoning. We needed to ask for salt and pepper. The saving grace was Read more
This is afusion resturant between Pakistan and Indian, I was greeted by a very formal setting only a couple tables active.... Upstairs only. My dish was very disappointing the Lamb Tikka Masala. Tasted like pure Heavy Cream and Sour Cream mix. No hintsof tomatoe tasted once so ever, which makes me wonder how the other side of the fusion really is. The lamb was mostly fatandsuper tough and lacking being stewed which is a pity. Very disappointing portion of Rice and the Garlic naan was doughy. Notto the expectations i have for Indian Food. I wont be coming back. There was no empathy for feedback except the usual "weappreciate the input" Read more
We were visiting Chicago for a night and we decided to give this place a try based on great reviews. We were so happy that we... did end up going here! Faraz personally greeted us (he is the chef and owner too). He and his team was super cordial and tookgreat care of us. The food was delicious but I think the service was what made it stand out even further. We definitelyrecommend this place to everyone and will come back again!! Must try: Falooda Kulfi (ice cream) and any dish with theirsignature tikka sauce! Read more
Our favorite Indian restaurant in the city! Literally everything is delicious. Some standouts to me personally were the... extremely beefy samosas that came with three dipping sauces omg! We ordered a couple entrees and everything was absolutelyperfect. Our waiter was super nice and attentive and dinner went without a hitch! We came during Diwali so we made sure to geta reservation! Lamb tandoori was fantastic. The tandoori chicken empanadas were killer! Great meal, definitely crafted with love.
