A gem on the North side of Chicago, Steingold’s brings deli classics with a modern twist to Southport. Bagels, pastrami,... challah and even whitefish salad are all top notch. One of my favorite aspects is that there is a monthly weekend bagelfundraiser for non-profits, including the immigrant assistance organization who assisted my great grandparents when they came tothis country over a century ago. My only nit pick is that they aren’t open 24/7 but everyone deserves breaks and a day ofrest. Read more

I love this place! My Sunday ritual of movie trivia at the Music Box would not be complete without a Steingold's bagel to go... with it. The bagels are reliably delicious and I enjoy trying the special bagel of the month for something a lil different. Onetime they gave me the wrong order, and when they corrected it for me they bumped me to the top of the queue, and the new one wasout within minutes. Really appreciated the customer service. Loved it. On my breakfast bagel Sammie quest — this one is at the top for me! The sesame bagel, perfect - bacon + egg +... cheese, great amount - fresh/quality ingredients and that jalapeño cream cheese is BOMB! Read more

Lox, tomatoes, capers, pickled cucumbers and red onions. It all worked together well! But the bagels were hard, and the... ingredients continuously fell out of the sandwich. Much better as an open-face sandwich Read more

Tasty, but pretty overpriced! Pictured here is the Cousin Suzy - $13. There’s no meat in this sandwich… The mushrooms were... well seasoned and cooked. Tasty cheese, sauerkraut and sauce completed the toasted to perfection sandwich. I’ve also had theirbagels before, which were great. Breakfast sandwiches are of great quality too! Read more

I have ordered multiple times and used to love this place but today was the final straw! I ordered pickup since the new location... now will not deliver to my house. In addition to 3 breakfast sandwiches, I ordered a bagel, toasted with light cream cheese. Theeggs on the sandwiches were overdone, but the bagel was the worst! It was thoroughly burnt and had barely any cream cheese! Ican’t believe someone thought it was ok to serve this to a customer! Read more
