This is my 2nd time eating here and The one thing I noticed was that everything was very heavily salted. The only thing that was... perfect was the mac & cheese. I still love how perfectly crispy and cooked the fried catfish is. But, the green beans (notpictured) and the dirty rice were extremely salty. Last time I was here I had The same things, along with the yams and friedgreen tomatoes and those are amazing. Read more

Really excellent soul food. We had the fried chicken and the lamb chops. Quick service, reasonably priced. The decor is tasteful... — nice bathrooms. Good playlist going too. Read more

We loved Soule! After having read the reviews for this restaurant, we decided to venture out to this destination to enjoy some... great soulfood. The trip there was well worth our time and enjoyed by all in our party. The small storefront was wellappointed, clean and delicious! We enjoyed shrimp and grits, blackened catfish, and fried chicken with sides of sweet potatoesand greens while listening to an old school R & B mix!! We sat at a window location and people watched as we looked out uponthe West Fest. What a delightful venture!! Every dish was well prepared and Scrumpdeli-ishous!!! Read more

Personally I do not quite understand the mixed reviews. It could really be personal preference, because my wife and I have... definitely had a great experience here. Sure, they may have asked us to come right at our reservation time instead of early(which seems to be one thing someone complained about), but I think it is perfectly reasonable. We got the fried green tomatoes, the fried catfish entrée, the fried chicken entrée, and shrimp & grits. All the sides were on point, including the greens, which you typically wouldn't expect too much in restaurants vs. home-made. The shrimp & grits was my absolute favorite, though!I don't know what they put in there, but I can eat it all day. Oh and of course, eating all that food with some Kool-Aid wasjust refreshing. They also had very good decorations and there were customers taking pictures with them. In general I willdefinitely recommend this place, and hope it is not a hit or miss for you if you choose to go! SOULE was a positive experience for my family and I. We were glad that we were able to support a black owned business and... celebrate my son's graduation at the same time. We lucked up on a 7:15 reservation. They are reservation only for dine in. Ithink this is primarily because there is only about 4 or 5 seating spaces for diners. It seemed they had plenty of online andcall pick up orders though as you could see the steady traffic on the Sunday night. We had the honey drizzled chicken withsides, catfish dinner with 2 sides. and the salmon dinner. My greens were a little salty for my taste but the sweet potatoeswere exactly on point. Catfish was great, like home! We also had the New Orleans shrimp appetizer. It was small but super tasty. My daughter cleared the sauce from the bowl. We spent near $40 per person for 4 meals, 2 desserts, no drinks and an appetizerincluding tip which is a little pricey for us so we can't afford to go regularly but the food was delicious and we would orderagain. By the way the metered street parking was free at the time we went. Read more

Excellent Soul food restaurant in the heart of growing foodie neighborhood West Town. My brother came by for a late lunch and... were fortunate to grab a walk-in spot, but be advised that this restaurant is predominantly booked via online reservation.Another pro tip - it's BYOB with a $10 corkage fee! We shared the honey glazed fried chicken and the lamp chops with a varietyof side dishes. The food was absolutely delicious and the perfect amount to share between the two of us. Our favorite sidedishes were definitely the creamed corn (so flavorful!) and dirty rice. We finished the meal with a banana pudding, which wasalso to die for. Overall, I was super satisfied with the meal. This spot is well deserving of its Bib Gourmand status. I washappy to support this Black female-led establishment and would love to return! Read more

Definitely not worth the money or what I was expecting. I ordered my food through uber but I will be giving them a call shortly... after this review. Let's start: Please remove Lamb chops from your menu--- awful and overcooked, try a different recipe forpeach cobbler not it and I've been to New Orleans too many times to be insulted by your BBQ Shrimp. Whew first time in Chicagogoing back to the SOUTH! No Thanks.0 Read more

Since moving to Chicago I’ve been looking for a good comfort/soul food spot and I think I found it! I checked out Soulé on a... Saturday evening and they did not disappoint. The staff was super friendly and they were BUSY (good for them!) I had the friedcatfish plate with mac&cheese and greens. My friend had the white meat chicken plate with sweet potatoes and asparagus. We alsoshared the jerk wings and the banana pudding!! The catfish was DELISH! I haven’t had catfish this good since moving from NewOrleans. And the sweet potatoes were to die for! The price for the amount of food was just right compared to some other soulsfood spots I’ve been too! I forgot to get pics of some of the food before we started eating, but that just tells you how goodit was! Definitely make a reservation if you want to eat in as the space is not very large, but they also do carry out ordersif you want to go that route! The only reason I did not give a 5 is because you knew the food was prepped ahead of time becauseit was served within a few minutes of ordering. Not a big deal, especially because of how busy they were but just a noticing! Read more
