Reviews for Small Cheval- Riverside in Chicago, IL
Not sure how this place has such rave reviews. It?s expensive and super mediocre. Two cheeseburgers (one with bacon), one order... of fries, one can of beer and one can of cider = $62 including 20% tip. Ludicrous. Burgers were over cooked and too salty. Frieswere good, staff was nice. Read more
Fantastic cheeseburgers and addictive fries. Make sure to get a side of garlic aioli (next to the fountain drinks) to dip your... fries in! Pretty heavy for lunch but well worth it on occasion. Read more
Would rate the cheeseburger 4 stars for taste - honest burger, juicy, oozing, not pretentious. However the price is steep and... the bottom half of my French Fries was too salty for (top half tasteful though) - have to deduct a star for that. Milkshake wasdecent and staff nice. Read more
The fries were good, garlic aioli is awesome. The cheesburger was really nothing impressive. It was good, but between this,... culver's, and portillos burgers, I probably wouldn't have picked this one. And then I realize that I spent $25 on a baconcheeseburger with lettuce and tomato, and fries, and I'm just disappointed. If you want au cheval, go to au cheval. This isn'tthe same, even if it costs the same. If you just want a good burger to go, I'd go somewhere else. The service was good. Read more

I've eaten my fair share of burgers from all over the place and I have to say this burger is in my top three. (I also wasn't... expecting it to be a double cheeseburger, but I was pleasantly surprised.) It was a gastronomical experience to say the least. The fries were incredible as well. Try them with the garlic aioli from the condiment bar. The menu couldn't be simpler: Do youwant a hamburger, cheeseburger, or plant based burger? Do you want fries? What would you like to drink? That's probably thehardest one to answer because they have quite a few alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. The only downside is it is a bitpricey for a burger and fries. Don't take your kids. They won't appreciate it. If you're in the area and you'rehungry...scratch that, even if you're not hungry, you should try one of these burgers. My wife is from SoCal and she said thisis the closest to In-N-Out that she's ever had. Looking forward to my next visit. (Personally I think it's better thanIn-N-Out.) I should also mention that the staff was friendly and helpful too. Enjoy! Read more
I don't know exactly what they do to their burgers but I am sure it's a bit of magic. If you are in Chicago and have a taste for... a burger, this is your location. I was refereed to this location by a local and I am glad I listened to her. Mouth wateringhamburgers at a great price. Read more
Surprise- two patties on the cheeseburger! A tasty, simple, fresh cheeseburger with your choice of condiments from the bar (Sir... Kensington's or Heinz ketchup, Sir Kensington's mustard, and Hellman's mayo), on top of the special sauce and pickles. Acheeseburger and LA Croix came to $17 with tip...no fries. Expensive for what you get. But a good solid burger is worth it oncein a while. I think I would go broke if I lived in Chicago! ???? Read more
