So … sadly really wanted to love this place, but they really need to pick a lane. Entree list is a mix of 15-dollar sandwiches... and 45-dollar entrees. Yet they’re out of most of everything when you try to order. Additionally, arguably some of the worstservice I’ve had in a long time. We ordered two entrees and one came out incorrectly - only after asking for them to take oneaway (felt weird eating by myself on my birthday) they took one and just set it on the counter (no heat lamp) and brought it outcold once the other was ready. This was after they told us “the sandwich wasn’t very good” and “I only eat thechicken” (but the chicken was out for the evening already). When the poor service was addressed with the front of housemanager, no compensation was given yet we were told that there had already been complaints about the waiter. Just a “sorry, not sorry” vibe. Demi Lovato already said it, we’re over it. Bistro or fine dining? What is this place? Very confusing andalso, just lacking in much of any point of view overall. 300 bucks later and I would come back for wine and bail on anythingmore substantial. Read more

Had very high expectations seeing the reviews. We were seating outside (that’s fine), but there were no lights and the server... barely ever came outside. The food was shockingly bad. $10 almond dish was just almonds in a bowl. Cheese board was too saltyand they ran out of the sauce so they gave us honey instead. Quiche was served cold. The appetizers were so bad we decided toskip the entrees and eat elsewhere. The Korean bbq place down the road is quite good. We tried most their desserts too. Wejoked that the brownie they served was from the jewel osco down the street. All the desserts actually tasted like it was premadefrom a grocery store. I don’t think this was a case of “we’re not adjusted to fine dining taste”. All 4 of us enjoyfine dining frequently, we’re not picky eaters at all. We just really didn’t enjoy the food here. We didn’t complain, butthey could tell we didn’t like the food so they proactively took off 1 dessert from a $100 bill (of a few appetizers anddesserts). A nice gesture, definitely not enough to make up for the experience. Overall service was quite poor, although theywere nice. Just inattentive. My friend who lives in this neighborhood says this place is filled with amazing restaurants. Saveyour money and time and go elsewhere. Read more

We specifically drove to the restaurant to enjoy mussels night. Since we traveled just short of an hour and a half to get there,... we decided to try a little bit of everything that was available. We started with the gem salad which was extremely fresh andnicely dressed with a champagne vinaigrette. After sharing our greens, we moved on to the mussels. That's why we made thejourney here. It's possible to order two variations of mussels so of course we did. Rouge features tomato, paprika, garlic andparsley. Very nice flavored broth. The marinière was flavored with white wine, saffron, fennel and herbs. This was hands downthe favorite between the two of us. The broth was just YUM, and there were generous amounts of fennel to load up on your toastedbread after you dipped it. The mussels are served with an order of fries cooked perfectly. I love when there's little cranniesin your fries where the oil creeps in and crunches up the inside and these delivered! Who doesn't love a French fry with asurprise inside here and there? There were two desserts featured And we tried both. The macaron glacé was stuffed with anapricot sherbet and had a Michigan tart cherry reduction on the side. The survey was so tasty. I could have eaten it alone. Thesecond dessert was the Riz au Lait. This was a rice pudding featuring peaches and plums. It was sweet, creamy and tart. Ourservice was excellent and we had the pleasure of meeting some of the kitchen Maestro's. Talking with them it was obvious thatthey take their food very seriously and there's a lot of passion and love in the dishes that they fed us. If you get a chance togo, don't forget to let them know how much you enjoyed it. The restaurant is rather unique in the layout. Everyone inside isbasically seated at a chef's table. It's very intimate and relaxing. It makes you feel pampered and a little spoiled seeingeverything that's going on with the preparation of your meal. They do have outdoor seating as well. The crudo and the foie gras brioche were both so incredibly delicious and amazing. We initially only intended on having the two... starters then leaving, but we were so impressed that we decided to stay and try an entree though initially none of the entreesstuck out to us to try. Eventually we decided on the cod, but we honestly did not enjoy the dish. It felt like it was wellcrafted, just not to our taste. It's difficult to rate this because we really enjoyed our experience otherwise and would hateto knock a star based on what might be incompatibility. Definitely the starters alone are worth the trip if you're in the area. Read more

The atmosphere and service was very good, but surprisingly found the menu to be a little underwhelming and lacking... diversity. There are really only three appetizers. Bread, olives, or nuts are more snacks. The ham is just ham. And the foiegras and crudo are really the only ‘traditional’ starters. I’ve heard wonderful things, and after realizing that westarted with bread and the Bayonne ham (ham was good, but simple and same for the bread), I couldn’t get the Croque Madame(ham and bread again). We shared a salad so getting the duck confit (which they didn’t have that night it was duck breast) onsalad would be too similar. So we got the steak frites and the fish. The fish was nice but the olives with the fennel wasn’textremely pleasant. Steak frites is steak frites. It was well cooked but it’s a dish that usually (and as it did here) lackspanache. As the most expensive menu items (about $50) from a celebrated French restaurant I expect a little bit more. The garlicwith the frites was also too strong. Overall, it was good, just not great. When you have a high end menu with a small selectionof dishes, there should be more interchangeability with choices. The menu items tonight were simple and very similar. Wedidn’t order the foie gras or the crudo, but the table next to us did. The foie is served on a single piece of toast (againmeat on bread) and the crudo looked nice but very small (and again reminiscent of the other fish on the menu). I’m not surewhat I was expecting, but at these prices maybe a little more flare? Perhaps I should try it on one of their specialty menunights. Read more
