Ordered both thin and ?double crust? and was extremely unimpressed. Crust was dry and hard like it?s been stale for months.... Getting double crust is double the punishment. Forget about eating leftovers because this pizza goes from barely edible todisgusting after 24 hours. See next day pic. Tossed out half the pie. Way too many other good options in the area than to wasteyour money here. Gets two stars because pasta, salad and wings were decent. I?d still avoid at all costs. Price charged for beefs and fries is not what is posted on their counter or current menu. Two dollars more per beef and one... dollar more for fries. They charge whatever the market will bear. Read more
The owner was very rude. No one was there and they said the pizza would take 20 minutes, it took 40 and was then soggy and... bland. When we asked the owner for some salt he was very rude. Never going back 0/10 !!!! Read more
I called in an order for delivery I was asked for my credit card information which was given serval times. The person on the... other end was clearly having a hard time taking my order & processing my credit card information. Ten minutes later I received acall from the person I placed the order with again asking for my credit card information which I gave. Forty minutes later Ireceived yet another call requesting my credit card information. This time I was accused of not having provided my credit cardinformation. I informed him I had in fact I gave it about 3 times prior to this call. I tried to provide my credit cardinformation but this person kept talking over me. He claimed I was yelling and said I can give him my credit card informationonce again, I can either take the food or not take the food. As soon as I began to speak he spoke over me. I tried to explain tohim that it would work better if he would stop talking over me & gave me the same courtesy I gave him. He was highly upseteventually hung up on me. Read more
So the pizza here is usually fine, but the same can be said of the 3 other pizza places within blocks of here. The recurring... problem at Papa Joe's is their customer service. Look here and in Yelp (especially under their "not recommended" reviews) andyou'll find plenty of customers saying the same about the owner and his policies. The first issue (which occurred on numerousoccasions) was that my wife would place an order and I would pick it up on my way home from work. If she used a coupon, I wouldbe told upon arriving that they can't honor it unless I go home first, pick it up and bring it back... despite having ouraccount in their system and knowing what coupons they gave/mailed us in the past! The second issue (also happened more thanonce) is that when they make a mistake, they don't take ownership of it. Ordered a pizza with sausage on half and 2 ingredientson the other half, only to find no sausage when we opened it up at home. Called to say what happened only to be put on hold andthen told that the chef "doesn't remember if he put sausage on it with all the pizzas tonight". Really!? I've ordered from themfor 13 years now... am I suddenly desperate to scam them over sausage? Then they say that they'll credit the cost of the missingingredient on my next order. No offer to remake it right. Is any of this the end of the world? No. But life is too short andthere are too many good pizza places to deal with this nonsense. This business went downhill and fast. We ordered pizza for my daughter's birthday party and due to a staff shortage, Papa Joe... himself made our pizza. And he made it incorrectly....twice. The first time the pizza came wrong, we called and let them knowand they said that they would send out a new pizza but wanted the wrong one back...um...why would they want a pizza that hasalready been in my house?? The second order was then sent and it was wrong....again. We call again and the best they could dothe second time was a $2.50 cent coupon on our next order. As this was totally unacceptable, my husband went and spoke with PapaJoe. At first he (PJ) refused to come out of the kitchen and was screaming and swearing about his customers. After coming out tospeak to a long time customer, Papa Joe was very aggressive, along with just plain rude. After finally listening to what myhusband had to say, Papa agreed to give us a free pizza the next time we ordered. Fast forward to today and I call to get ourfree pizza and am given the run around and hung up on by Papa Joe himself. I call back and can hear him in the background saying"it's her and I don't want to deal with it." Then they refused to deliver my "free" pizza unless I order an additional amount offood (not free). Best pizza place in Jefferson park /Chicago and "the only place I will order from" Thanks papa Joes for having such hot and... delicious food! Kudos I highly recommend this spot! I'm a lifer 10 years strong ..???? I'm shocked on the poor reviews don'tbelieve everything you read people ..my food has always been on time ..
